amiga ebay users are they stupid ?
« on: August 25, 2003, 07:11:58 PM »
Ive been looking on ebay at scsi hard drives and have got a 9.1 ibm drive for £15.00, but small scsi drives of 500mb are being bidded on for much more just because they have amiga in the title .

This also happens for 2.5 inch hd and other stuff as long as amiga is in the title ,it just makes me wonder why people have to bid on such crap when bigger and better items sometimes make 3 times less.No wonder amiga companys can get away with it . :-?  :-)
I once had an amigaone xe but sold it .

Yes, amiga e-bay people are stupid. Still I got a G-Force '040 @33MHz for about 130 bucks on there... just can't find them cheaper round here,

Stupid? No. it's supply and demand. As for SCSI devices and such, if it's been Amiga formatted and tested working on an Amiga compatability is not a problem. Not every Amiga user out there are power users. Be nice already :-o

-Edit-
Some people would say that about my auctions. Some would say "Who would be so stupid to buy such an old computer". Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Hi Amigamad,
I think you are being a bit harsh on some of our fellow amigans, just because they pay silly prices for small HDs, I mean not every one can use HDtools.
So they buy a set-up ready to go.
I know the rest of us enjoy the Thrill of the Format and the `Buzz` of the partition.
But the `muggles` dont get it !  :-D
@ red, you never got back to me about those Zip chips :-D

@browny.

Obviously you're really keen on getting those chips, but I'm sure Red could supply them for less ;-)

True but some sellers use the term amiga just to sell something they might end up being stuck with i didnt just mean hard drives .

Most things i have bought lately are from amibench so far a pcmcia network for 1 of my a1200,s a dead blizzard ppc which seems to work in the amiga i wanted to sell but not in my £5 a1200 and i am  now buying  a mediator pc board for a1200 .

I have thought of buying stuff cheap on amibench and putting it on ebay it would be easy money . :-)

If you think there is a market for it, go for it! Just research before you jump into it. eBay buyers are fickle, even Amiga buyers.

Speaking of Amiga items on EBay, TeamAROS has started the US Amiga Rummage Sale to raise monies for Bounty projects.  For those of you living in the US (or Canada, shouldn't be too expensive shipping it down to FL) and have some old working Amiga equiptment your no longer, please consider donating it.  redrumloa@amiga.org is kind enough to assist by being the seller.  We're splitting the profit of any Amiga hardware sold (he's doing the hard part afterall) via his EBay auctions.

I've got several multiserial cards (A2232) that I'm going to be shipping to Redrumloa tomorrow.  If you do have some working hardware that you would like to donate, drop Redrumloa an email for a shipping address.

Nothing wrong will selling second hand Amiga hardware for stupid prices if there is people willing to pay the money.

I used to sell a lot of stuff on Amibench because i know the magical name "Amiga" will get people paying crazy prices for hardware and i loved it.

I payed £20 for a 64 ss edo simm  then sold it on amibench for £70 and some mug bought it, i miss those days  :-D
