Nothing wrong will selling second hand Amiga hardware for stupid prices if there is people willing to pay the money.

I used to sell a lot of stuff on Amibench because i know the magical name "Amiga" will get people paying crazy prices for hardware and i loved it.

I payed £20 for a 64 ss edo simm  then sold it on amibench for £70 and some mug bought it, i miss those days  :-D

If you think there is a market for it, go for it! Just research before you jump into it. eBay buyers are fickle, even Amiga buyers.

I have done some research on uk ebay 040 cards for an a1200 fetch around £70 plus postage and 060,s fetch around £170 every 060 i have seen has sold for that much, also ppc cards fetch £170 i could have had one from amibench for a £110. A500 hard drives fetch about 40 pound and a phillips cm8833 mk2 monitor sold for 50 odd pound including postage i have one of these that i paid $8 pound for because it was cheaper than a scandoubler  takes more space though .

I am only thinking of the things which alwayas seem to make money cdtv,s seem vary a lot one week 3 made good money at the moment they are making next to nothing.

At the moment i have to sell some of my amiga collection due to to many machines my second pc the msi motherboard died so that will give me room for two ppc amigas towers when i get the second built one pc is enough. :-)
I once had an amigaone xe but sold it .

Depends...I remember seeing 3 Blizzard 1260's
sell on e-bay for more than what I paid for mine
brand new, including shipping and a 64mb SIMM.

Then again, you can find 'deals'. I found a
NOS C= amiga external floppy for 10 bucks.

Lately the 'deals' do seem harder to come by, or
the market is just cyclic. People are paying
lots of money for 'amiga' or 'commodore'
hardware.

Some people would say that about my auctions. Some would say "Who would be so stupid to buy such an old computer". Value is in the eye of the beholder.

Actually a Ben is not really a bad price for a
brand new vintage computer...personally I
think it could be a wise investment. In 20
years they may be worth thousands each.

Ah, the irrational buyer! :-D

The fact is buyers aren't stupid, some just have a different oppintion as to what's of value and of how much value it is.

To say that you know the price better than they do, is arrogance IMO, since we all have different wants and desires.

As an eBay'r I bid by my need, want and or willingness to pay.  But I do keep up with availability and pricing for the same thing new.   :-P

@red

What's coming up for the next round of sale's?   :-D

So you experienced guys guess it would be worth selling an original Commodore Amiga 4000/040 on ebay ?  Would it be better to sell the system as a whole or sell the  videocard and ethernetcard etc... seperately ?  I know it sounds like blasphemy wanting to sell at all but to be honest, I'm not a gamer so I have little use left for the old girl.  Anyway, I think any future for the Amiga is in the new systems.

Generally selling amiga items, you are probably better to go a la carte, that is sell items individually.  Of course that may mean you'll get stuck with that 2400 baud Supra Amiga modem.  But someone who just wants a video card  or a plain vanilla A4000 is more likely to bid on individual items than if the whole thing is rather pricey.  For example, I just won a bid on a Cyberstorm ppc 200 with a 9 gig Scsi drive.  I really just wanted the Cyberstorm, the drive is a nice bonus ( although it probably drove the shipping cost up with the weight) but he could have sold the drive separately and I still would have paid the same price for the PPC card.  One other thing is don't restrict your sales by limiting to where you'll ship.  The old law of supply and demand says that if you increase your demand by selling to more countries, you'll drive your auction price up by increasing the number of bidders.  I find that most people (about95%) will ship to other countries even if their auction is coded "will ship to Germany, US or Lichtenstein only".  It's the ones that say that in the body of their auction that tick me off, especially if it's something I wish to bid on.  I'm tempted to send them a nasty letter saying "Screw you buddy, it's only your own throat your cutting."  But I don't, after all I'm one of those polite Canadians  that say sorry when someone else bumps into me :-)
Oh, by the way don't ship UPS if the package is going to cross  the border.  They are bandits and will hose you brokerage charges like you wouldn't believe.  I've rarely had a problem with the Post, but I've always had problems with UPS.

Well from what I have seen you can get a lot for an A4000 with good stuff in it here on the US Ebay site. I've allways wanted to get one, but my A3000 is so loaded I dont see the point any longer. Here is an example of what people ask for them. Though This one started way to high to attract any bidders.

@aardvark @Acill
Thanx for the info.  I will have to think about it, parting with the old girl is not as easy I guess.  Wonder what I could still use the Amiga for ?

@All
Sorry for going off topic all the time, I have this habit of wondering when I read stuff... you can always just ignore me :-)
