Before I forget, a few days ago Matthew Leaman of AmigaKit.com said that he was going to bring four Escom Amiga 1200s, new-in-the-box, to the show.

Quite remarkable to see uncirculated
A1200s when I visited AmigaKit in June,

They should do that show in Chicago, or some place more central to the rest of the country. A trip to California is not exaclty cheap for most people..

@Metalguy66,

There are plans to have an Amieast in Atlanta, GA in 2009, I have a link to the thread below.  With the markets being what they are at the moment, my plans to attend Amiwest will not happen.  I would love to get out that way because that is my homeland (Santa Barbara, CA).  Cash saved on airfare can certainly cover some much wanted items from Amigakit at the Amieast in 09.

Kind of hard to move the Sacramento Amiga Computer Club (the host of the show) to Chicago.  :)  You'd have to find a cooperative group in your area.

HOW TO GET FROM SFO AIRPORT TO SACRAMENTO WITHOUT A CAR =)

1. If you have not arrived in the in the SFO International Terminal, go to the International Terminal. Once there, or if your plane arrived there, go to the BART metro station.

http://www.bart.gov/

2. Board BART and ride it to 12th St. Oakland station. At 12th St. Oakland, transfer for the Richmond train that is waiting across the platform (this is a timed transfer so there is no waiting). Take this train to Richmond Station (last stop on the Richmond line).

3. At Richmond Station, transfer to the Capitol Corridor train, northbound. This will take you all the way to Sacramento. =)

http://www.capitolcorridor.org/

4. At Sacramento, take the light rail ("tram" in euro parlance) Blue Line (either walk or transfer to Blue Line), to I-80/Watt Station.

http://www.sacrt.com/

5. From I-80/Watt East station (final stop on Blue Line), go to the upper level (Watt overpass) and take bus Route 26 southbound, until you get to the hotel, which is about 2.5km away. You can also walk the 2.5km if you feel like it. =)

@RobertB

riccofl was spearheading the idea and we shared emails about when, where, and how.  I will try to get back in touch and see where we are at.

@AmigaHope & all

The Watt/I-80 Light Rail station is a crime hotspot, and I wouldn't recommend walking from Watt Avenue, down Auburn Boulevard to the hotel. You probably wouldn't be bothered during the day, but it's not the safest part of town at night. Pimps and dealers frequent the area.

You've just told me that it's a fine center of commerce, frequented by shrewd businessmen. =)

(I'm not exactly scared of pimps and dealers -- I see them all the time when I walk around the Tenderloin. xD However if it's also frequented by must-get-money-to-buy-fix-no-matter-what crack/methheads, best to not be carrying luggage while walking. They're not very skillful at mugging but they're the least predictable and more prone to do crazy stuff. Pro muggers are more selective about the circumstances and people they hold up. )

So I dunno if Watt Ave. really scares me.

Now the *city of Watts*.... *THAT* scares me at night. =) Don't want to be caught walking while white there. Fortunately I don't go to L.A. much so avoiding Watts is easy.

Back from the AmiWest Show and SACC President Brian Deneen considers it a success.  Start planning for AmiWest 2009!

It was good to meet my Amiga friends, get my equipment updated, buy new stuff, and look at the new items coming out.

Now it's time to get my photos developed,

Hey, but current jet packs only have a flying time of 30 seconds or so.  ;-)
