I'll be going, although I'm not sure I'll spend the entire day there.

Ooo, some reasons to visit... South Lake Tahoe and your group!  I take it your on the Nevada side?

Welp, our group is no longer. Faded out sometime around 2002. I was one of the last members to give up hope on the Amiga and go Winderz. Still have all my Amigas and somehow still find time/money to tinker with them.

Last time I checked, South Lake Tahoe was still in California.  :-D  The casinos would have everyone believe otherwise...  Hey, but ya can still visit. Got some space on the floor in the Amiga dungeon.

We are once again attending Amiwest this year in October.

Who also has plans to visit this show?

Here is a list of the few that have responded to this thread.  I would like to meet all the members from A.org that are planning on attending AmiWest 2008.  It is great to meet and put faces and voices to the many members here when such an opportunity is available.

Definitely Attending:

AmigaKit
AmigaDave
RobertB
T3000
-D-
Trev
pan1k
Tim is also coming with me and pan1k but I have forgotten his handle here.

Want to Attend, but not sure:

SACC-guy
arnljot
Firedawg

I am sure there must be many more that are coming, but have not seen this thread, or didn't bother to respond.  Please let us know so we can put faces to the names here and introduce ourselves to each other.
How are you helping the Amiga community? :)

Less than a week out for AmiWest'08.
Hope I have some $ leftover to spend on impulse items.  :-D

Since I'm a local I plan on attending...its only a 30 minute drive from my house to the hotel.

For those attending...any interest in either an Amiga 4000 (full up with memory/cd drive and refurb'd by Amiga France in 2005) or an A3000 with a full load of zip memory but a video chip that needs a few minutes for VGA to stabalize.  I've got too much equipment sitting around...and too many things I'd like to buy at AmiWest!!

PM me if interested and we can chat.

Bob

heh  I got the same problem on all 3 counts.  Just spent a small fortune in the last month or so on misc hardware. Finally aquired a PicassoIV. wo0t!
...just don't tell my wife I spent the firewood money for this winter on tinker toys.

I just spent [amount undisclosed--trust me, you don't want to know] on my wedding, so sadly, I probably won't be spending any money on goodies this year. Property taxes are also due in November! *sigh*

My fiancee (wife on October 25!), however, encourages me to indulge my hobbies, so who knows. I could have an OS4 system in hand next weekend....

I've been working on something cool that I'd hoped to have finished in time for AmiWest, but I haven't had much time to work on it recently. We'll see how much free time I have this week.

Congrats? So the funeral is Oct 24th then eh? Married and free time do not exist very well together.
...and yes, I know how overpriced weddings can get. I'm still making payments on my first one from 17 years ago in the form of child support.

Between the Tekmagic from amigadave and the Indivision from Red, I doubt I'll be spending much, either... though it sure would be cool to pick up something for the clockport on the A500. ;-)

@T3000

Well, no sympathy from me, unfortunately. My father was a deadbeat who wouldn't pay child support until threatened with a bench warrant. (He had a new family, you see, and whether or not his old one could afford milk wasn't his concern.) I've seen him twice in the last 28 years, and the last time I communicated with him, he told me that as an adult, it was up to me to initiate any sort of relationship. I told him to go eff himself. Who needs a father, anyway, eh? I don't deny the impact having an absent father (as opposed to no father at all) has had on me as a social being, but what can you do. Life goes on.

My fiancee's father is a good guy, and for the first time in my life, I'll have someone I can call "Dad."

On topic: I've added a mysterious RJ-45 jack to my A500. ;-)

Before I forget, a few days ago Matthew Leaman of AmigaKit.com said that he was going to bring four Escom Amiga 1200s, new-in-the-box, to the show.

Quite remarkable to see uncirculated
A1200s when I visited AmigaKit in June,
