PS 2 Keyboards on Amiga
« on: June 22, 2008, 01:48:05 PM »
Been using a PS 2 KB with adaptor on my A3k.
I just found that the Back-Slash key isn't reconized.
I tried another KB with the Back-Slash key in another
position. Same thing, not reconized.

Do I have a couple of falty KB's and keep trying until
I find a KB that works, or is this a common problem ??

Hi Mel

The keycodes generated by the PS2 keyboard should be independant of key location.  I think the adaptor remaps the codes to Amiga standards.  Mine has a jumper inside, I believe, to choose an alternate mapping.  I've been toying with re-housing the adaptor in a box with a switch so I can select them on the fly.

Hmmm..... it seems to me I've seen a prg. that remaps
the KB to what you want but can't remember where.
I've checked Aminet but didn't find anything.
Anyone know of a prg. to remep the keyboard ?

I found it! Mine is a Lyra keyboard adapter.  I mentioned it because it seems that if the jumper is in one position, the back-slash is missing.  In the other position I didn't like the way the Windows keys were mapped or something.  Can't remember.

I use the Aminet PS2 keyboard adaptor (that one without an EPROM). Works like a treat. Even with the bizarre brazilian keyboards we have here.

For people who have an EPROM programmer, I recommend the one with ROM, of course.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
