1 - yes, you can get rid of it by using the
smallird image rather than the
bigird when loading the kernel.
2 - check under the Amiga screenmodes. If you get a full range and can change resolution on the fly, you'll be using the nVidia driver.
3 - Test the speed. You should get in excess of 30MB/s on any modern system, but you won't get anywhere near that in PIO-0.
4 - Hit the power switch.

(There is also a soft shutdown command somewhere, but this was made available as an unofficial extra, and may be hard to find now that Yahoo Groups have removed all attachments from their archives, unless someone has put the file on their site)
