Is MiniMig the most exciting project in years?

I certainly think it is.  I mean, where does it end...  Could someone make MiniMig version of an A4000T, with SCSI and Zorro and all that stuff?

 Meh/ thinks yes, this is the coolest project, but not the only one.

 There are several cool stuff running around for real Amigas, lets see:

 - Floppy Emulator;:banana:

 - A600 8Mb RAM;:banana:


 - "Tabajara A601" (my project, I know how humble it is); ;-)


 - Others I don't mention right now (in project stage)... :-o

 More to come this year. I can't wait!:hammer:

Minimig is very cool! Dennis is a great asset to the Amiga community.

Definitely the best news to hit amiga.org in a long while. Dennis put a ton of work in on this project. An AGA/4000 version isn't impossible, but improbable since we don't see many others with the talent, time and money to invest.

The next big thing we're waiting to hear about is the AClone.

I'm still not sure what all the fuss is about. Future potential, maybe. But right now it's just an over priced A500.
A cool project for the gentleman who created it, and hats off for the open source approach. But what can it do that an A1200 with WHDload can't do? Can you guys explain why you're so hyped about it?

Like you said, it's got future potential. Plus, it's the only thing available.

I'm excited because I think it's a matter of time before someone create a nice plastic case for it, with space for SD cards, S-Video out, internal font and keyboard port. Portable and Plug & Play at any TV.
 Like the OCM (One Chip MSX).

- MMC Replay (C64)
- UAE Integration in AROS
- Catweasel support in AROS
- Traveller web browser for AROS

The next box could be:
 * Spartan-3E with softcore MC68020 + AGA
 * Ports as Minimig1 +
 * DVI/HDMI, SPdif, Ethernet

After that:
 * Virtex with builtin PPC, with softcore MC68020 + AGA
   Using the PPC as "accelerator"
   RocketIO as SATA disc controller.
 * Ports as above

Just free thinking.. :crazy:
Don't forget issues like transmission line effects within the pcb, multilayer, oscilloscope debuging, BGA-hell etc..

Otoh, a suitable developerboard can proberbly do it all without the fuss. Just needing some creative HDL code :-)
