Yeah its Commodres Not Very Portable - Portable C64. Its basically a C64 with a built in monitor and floppy drive. As i understand it you can only use floppys with it.

They are quite rare and can fetch a high price on ebay

Never seen the SX64 before? :-o  :-?

These things come up on our local ads site marktplaats.nl almost twice a month. Still, they're indeed rare and 100 Euros is about a normal price they sell for (provided they're working and in not too bad condition).

With a C64 DTV and a PSP screen you could build a much lighter clone SX64.
mmmm...probably cost less too.
Still, if your after collectables this is an interesting one and anything that plays 3D Ant attack is cool in my book.

I read the article about the PC conversion back when it was first posted. It's made relatively easy since the C64 outputs Luma and Chroma video signals, which are the components of S-Video; the monitor in the SX64 can thus be connected almost directly to a modern graphics card. Only the physical connection needs to be adapted, the electric one works out-of-the-box. Then there's of course the software config part...

The other neat thing about this conversion is that the entire original structure has been kept. The original ports are still on the back. External adapters are used to connect modern peripherals.

Of course, the other way to get Google on there would be one of those new-ish C64 network interfaces. :-)
