Yes I have looked on the disc, no I couldn't find a keyfile. Yes I've read the manual. If I have an OEM registration I don't know were that is. What I have received is the following:

1: USB hardware + cables and connectors
2: Printed manual telling me how to install the hardware
3: Disc containing the Poseidon v3.x software
4: Notice about warranty

That's it.

If all seems so simply, why can't I then get a simple answer? What do I need to do? Should I stand on my head?

The hardware seems to work, coz when I connect my USB disc (256 Mb) it sees it, I can even start writing files to it. But after 1 or 2 minutes I get a germen error message. If I then open the prefs I can see, DEMO Licence timeout.

I've used both v2.x and v3.x

Sorry for being impolite. Was a long day :-(

The error messages from the FAT95 driver are in german because you copied the L:Fat95 file over to your harddisk
instead of using the supplied installer scripts.

If even V2.x doesn't work, there's something majorly wrong. The licence keyfile is stored inside the device driver (both V2.x for old subway batches and a V3.x keyfile for the "new" batch also sold by AmiKit), that's why it cannot be found on the installer disk. The license should be shown in the Hardware Info window when you double click on the subwayusb.device line in Trident.

Why this doesn't work is a mystery to me. The Subway with the V3.x license is out now for more than a year and we had no reports for malfunctioning except one similar case in december.

If I would be paranoid I'd suspect sabotage of some sort.

Chris:

If the hardware was bad or plugged in backwards would the license be recognized? If I remember right the Subway needs to stick up away from the motherboard when installed in the X-Surf. My X-Surf actually had a little sheet that covered this so I assume that HellCoder should have the same information around some where?

Well, the problem is solved and now it works perfectly!
Thanks to Chris for helping me out. Apparently my device driver wasn't working properly. :)

I can advice USB to anyone!
