Sadly no, probably an eternal realist. How many working PPC cards are in the wild? How many of those aren't mothballed? How many owners who actually own and use PPC cards will want it opposed to free solutions like MorphOS? Low hundreds sound realistic. I've heard guesses of low 10s (maybe 20-50) worldwide. I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS.That is probably too low, but 100-300 could be close.

Hyperion and ACube were, however, pleasantly surprised with the actual demand. The announcement on the 30th said that the number of orders had been twice what they expected. Maybe their sales teams are a bunch of pessimists, err, realists too.

Absolutely no idea; hence the "pessimist" comment. ;-)

I'm guessing that they started with looking at known sales figures of PowerPC accelerators, and the number of known broken ones. This would have been followed by some arm waving and (semi-)random scale-factor picking. Maybe a quick look at the OS 3.5 sales figures could be included there too.

It would be nice to know how many copies they sold. Actually, it would be more interesting to find out how many individual people they sold copies to, that don't already have an A1.
