Cyberstorm PPC Problems
« on: December 02, 2007, 04:29:37 PM »
Hi,

Well, i got my CPPC back from repairs. I bought it broken and preyed it might be fixable.

But the first thing i noticed was that it didn't map any memory, ( oh well i thought, might be that its incompatible ). Then i discovered that the ppc wasnt functional.

So far I've tried flashed it up, and tested it with the ppctest disk, but the amiga only reboots when i try the warpup test, and says ppc.library not loaded when i try that test. Any ideas on what might be fried?

Cheers
Mike

My advice, use the lastest GREX firmware and library on the DjBase site !
And use Blitzkick of Piru  :rtfm:
I had a similar problem with my BPPC

Use mainly non ECC/EDO simms.
Maybe, your PPC CPu need to be resold.
Keep the Faith !

According to the manual it needs a minimum of 8MB installed to operate the CSPPC (CSPPC manual, page 43). It could be that the memory controller chips are buggered, but the PPC is actually working.
This is no consolation however, as without memory it's going to be pretty crippled.

Did you send it to JJB in France?
Mac Mini G4 (1.5GHz, 64MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.6
Powerbook 5.8 (15", 1.67GHz, 128MB VRam, 1GB Ram): MorphOS 3.8.

Windows-free since 2011-2014 (Damn you Netflix!)

I have some double sided 32 mb bricks i hoped worked, but i've since pulled every brick from every old pc from miles around ^^

But that the memory controller is bust is what i "hope" is wrong too, if its the ppc its gonna be hellish.

No, it wasnt JJB, but i sent him an email yesterday, and its going to France asap, hopefully.

I noticed that the chip to the far right ( MACH231SP-15YC ) above the 0-1 bank gets frigging hot tho, so I've done some radical fan mods and just placed it over there, which seems to work.

Hm, can anyone tell me if the cppc ppc can work without accel ram? That might explain why its not working.
