My medconfig/warp 3d report
« on: October 14, 2007, 04:43:15 AM »
Hi
Ok i think i now have Warpup installed correctly because i can now get earth 2140 to run pretty good.
Now when i try to start the shogo demo the game trys to scan renderers and then i get a ppc exception error and the same happens when i try the warp 3d gears ppc demo.

Now when i first installed warp3d from the mediator cd for some reason it seems to install the A3000/4000 warp3d files so i had to remove them and copy the files i needed manually.

Now i wasn't sure if i needed the no mmu files?or the mmu files so here is my medconfig report so hopefully someone can spot the problem.

I wish i could help you but i don't have a mediator/Voodoo3, just a BVision and the software config is much different. (CGFX instead of P96, etc.) Shogo demo runs ok on my system.
Consider this post a bump to your thread. :-)

Yeah it's pretty annoying really as from what i can see it seems ok?and if earth2140 works fine then my warpup must be installed correct so the problem must be with Warp3D.

Use WOSPrefs to set WarpOS variables. Oh, and delete all Shogo files from ENVARC: and ENV: then launch the game again. It worked for me.

Set what variables exactly?what should i change??I currently un-checked the No patch box aswell as switching termintor 2 to Terminator 0.

Can someone not upload there medconfig report or something so that i can compare there warp3d libs and what not as this is driving me insane and no one seems to have an answer.

Surely there are more people who are running a mediator/Bppc with warpos and warp3D.

The gearsppc runs awesome on my machine, but its an A4000 not A1200.  I have PowerUp "Terminator2" selected.  "No Patch" is checked.  VideoAddress is set to "Always".  No other options are checked.  I have ppclibemu.library installed in LIBS: and I "initialize" it in my startup-sequence like this, "c:ppcinstall >NIL:".  One reason the demos might be failing on your machine is insufficient stack memory.  Try using the "stack" command and set to a higher value.  Another possible cause is hardware-  specifically, memory.  Are you running 60ns or 70ns SIMMs?
Do you have the memory speed set accordingly in the Blizzard's NVRAM?  In order to run at 60ns, the memory must be high quality, seated properly, and be in exactly matched sets.  Again, my setup is an A4000 so all of what I said may not apply in your system (I've never owned a Blizzard cardd and I'm really not sure how different they are from the Cyberstorms..).  The only other thing I noticed from your initial post was the ENV-Variable "Memsize".  I believe that should be set to "256" if you have a Voodoo Card with 16M and "512" otherwise.  There is also a jumper on the Mediator which corresponds to this value (at least there is on mine).  Another thing to check is your Picasso96 tooltypes and environment variables.  Overclocking enabled?  Blitter enabled/disabled?  Clockfrequency set right?  Etc..  From what you report, I kind of suspect the problem is your RAM and/or memory settings.

There's a simple little tool on Aminet called ppcmemtest, or something like that.  Give that a try and see if your RAM passes.

This to much argh lol,so i tried the ppc memtest program and everything came back as ok.
My warpos must be all working good since Earth 2140 runs fine,i really dislike Warp3D i mean it installs the damn 3/4000 version for some weird reason.

With all these seperate programs doing all these diffrent things its very hard to pinpoint the probelm.
Very frustrating indeed, the 68k gears demo used to work but now it wont either same goes for the warptest aswell.
