AmiMSN. Still interested?
« on: August 06, 2007, 12:03:52 PM »
Hi guys, it's been forever since I did anything with AmiMSN.

It still connects & still works with a slight modification to it's login routine.

Should I bother to continue with it?

Hmm, ok. Different response than what I was thinking.

I was under the impression since it uses 3rd party programs (some that crash on MOS/AOS4), and it's written in AREXX, and BitlBee servers at http://www.bitlbee.org/main.php/servers.html work, that no-one would be interested anymore.

I'm pretty fluent at AREXX, but I can't code C for {bleep}, though can compile simple programs.. I can swear here right? :-) I'd love to learn C but i'm busier than I used to be. Not to mention C isn't where it's at. It's all C++ or maybe even C# now. What language do people learn these days?

Edit: Nice bleep there ;-)

Must admit, couldn't get it to work under 3.9.
Would be quicker to launch than an opening an irc client and logging into the Bitlbee.
Also less memory usage.

 Please Mick, continue/update/steal code/bribe M$ in order to upgrade your superb program. I use it very often.

 C and C++ are languages not that complicated, at all. Shame Amiga don't have a visual C++ tool. Ooops, I forget about "Cubic", but it is far expensive piece of software and needs a very expanded Miggy in order to run:

- 800x600 screen ( @least), full color;
- 64 Mb RAM ( @least);
-  '060 ( @ very least). :-(

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

People actually use MSN? On any system?? I dont think I know a single MSN user on Amiga, PC, Windows, Mac, Linux, VAX, anything. While I'm all for writing tools to enable minority systems like Amiga and Linux to access proprietary networks and programs, MSN wouldnt be my first choice.

That said, if you're doing it, why not continue? Even if it doesnt get much use, it sounds like a good mental challenge, and it may benefit someone.
