As I recall, the primary purpose of 3.1 ROMs was to release version 3 of AmigaOS for non-AGA machines.  Bugfixes, enhancements and extra datatypes were just gravy.

I remember that some 3.1 C: commands crashed with a 3.0 ROM. Maybe you don't use that ones...

Well in the end i decided to buy some 3.1 Roms which i have now fitted after much pin bending.  :-)
