My BVision just won't work....
« on: May 20, 2007, 07:27:46 PM »
Now i have CGX v4 setup cd.
The V4 setup is no use, since it does not have any option for BVision. So running the BVision setupdisk and updating to V4.
But only the V4.2 rev 1 will install...
Al other displays that spatch is not "doing what it is supposed to do" and to check the errorscreen of spatch. but there is no errorscreen...
I have put the spatch program into every possible location...
But no, it wont work.

On the other hand. so does the BVision to. (not working)
The screen goes black, it shows perfect for 10 sec and locks up...

I have taken out the BVision (as someone told me to do) an run the bios update to the ppc... but to no help...
It still is not working...

I have no more options. DCE is not sending the disk they said the would send. (to no shock from some her at a.org, i guess)

What can i do now to get the &¤"%"#%¤ s¤#%t to work?

(sorry for cursing and bad language, but i am millimeters from smashing the whole computer to splinters...)

As already suggested in another thread, why not get it tested by someone with a known working setup like yours? You can even send it to Amiga Repair Center in France for getting it checked for errors for the cost of shipping?

No need to break working hardware...

What version OS are you using ?
If higher 3.9+ then you may need higher version then cgx 4.1

http://195.128.174.209/~cyfm/v4/

this seems to be latest release , worth a try. (will need cd handy)

I have CGX v42 rc6... but it wont install...
rc1 will... but the screen goes black.

I have tried to manually patch to RC6, going trough RC1, RC4, RC5.. etc..
But i get "wrong library version" error... except when using RC1...

I use OS 3.9. no boingbag...

I don't know whats left to do...
Have tried all the hints ans tips i got from you guys...

I guess it rests on the fact that the PPC just cannot co work with the BVision because of it being a rev 0 card...
And I don't know what to do since DCE is not sending the disk and no one else knows how to firmware upgrade the PPC...

by using the tool board type it identifies which revision of PPC card you are using. On my board it replies;

BlizzardPPC version 0
This Blizzard has version 0 which may cause HW problems with BVisionPPC

None...
to put the firmware upgrade AFAIK you need to send it to DCE to let them do it. But they stopped repairing amiga equipment 3 years ago. I spoke to a guy at DCE telling me I just had to use a disk to do the upgrade. And that he was to send me the disk. Got the address and all... But now it has passed a month or so. and no disk has yet arrived in my mailbox...

So now my options has completely run out.
I don't know whats left to do...
Other than just use it in AGA modes, where it runs perfect.

I was bidding on a PPC card on ebay some days ago. but they go for much more money than I have now. so for some time I have no hopes in getting a new card. It is really starting to bother me that it wont work...
so much that I wonder if anyone actually got a working BVision...

As already mentioned in your other thread, your card being a rev. 0 board hasn't anything to do with it not working with your BVision. Plenty of other people has a working BPPC + BVision setup running, even though the BPPC is a rev. 0 board (myself included) As for doing the firmware update, you have already done that yourself (and no, you don't need to remove the BVison in order to do the firmware update). Maybe you haven't got the latest one available?

Install a working 3.1 setup, and try again with the BVision and the latest CGX update.

I will give that a try tomorrow...
Got to get up early for work....

edit:
Only thing is, I don't have OS 3.1
Only got OS 3.0 (lost the installdisk)
(but, I have the 3.1 kick start ROMs)

OS3.0 or 3.1 won't make a difference.

Is the card working ok at powerup ?

it should be mode promoting the aga screens (max 4 cols) upto the point cgx drivers kick in.

when i first bought CGX4 for bvision it came with an aditional floppy. This disk was just for the BVision and patched cgx to work with it. Seems no one else has mentioned it. Do u have such a disk.

"On the other hand. so does the BVision to. (not working)

You have the Amiga connected and working with a 15 Khz monitor in PAL?

If you start in this way, you have the opportunity to TEST ONLY the new CGX modes (without saving anything).

In few words you should start with 2 monitors connected.

1 on the original AmigaRGB output and the other (a SVGA) connected to the BVision.

Then start the required installation. First the install from the CD and then the 4.3 upgrade (rc5 will be enough)

Yes, it does.
It shows the early startup screen, even WB.
But it will freeze up, no matter what...
Booting with no startup. I can run for... about 5 - 10 mins and it hangs... And i cannot disable that. until the CGX drivers kick in...

No I don't.

Yes, I have a 1942 monitor.
And when testing CGX modes, or saving for that matter. The screen goes black.. mostly.. bot shows the WB sometimes for seconds... and freezes...

If I start this way, with no CGX libs at all. The wb is shown in the CGX "monitor" (both for that matter), and the computer freezes after a short minute or two...
I can run the setup twice, or copy the bootpic.library..
Then I get the CGX installed. but it won't patch further than RC1... If I manually patch RC 4/5/6... it shows an error message with the text: version of librarys do not match...

edit:
BTW if i install from the CD i get no option of installing BVision. only CyberVision.
and the update won't run, or just shows the option for CyberVision.
When i install the original BVision setupdisk, I can patch it to RC1. with the CD inserted...
