Is the card working ok at powerup ?

Yes, it does.
It shows the early startup screen, even WB.
But it will freeze up, no matter what...
Booting with no startup. I can run for... about 5 - 10 mins and it hangs... And i cannot disable that. until the CGX drivers kick in...

Quote
when i first bought CGX4 for bvision it came with an aditional floppy. This disk was just for the BVision and patched cgx to work with it. Seems no one else has mentioned it. Do u have such a disk.

No I don't.

Quote
You have the Amiga connected and working with a 15 Khz monitor in PAL?

Yes, I have a 1942 monitor.
And when testing CGX modes, or saving for that matter. The screen goes black.. mostly.. bot shows the WB sometimes for seconds... and freezes...

Quote
Then start the required installation. First the install from the CD and then the 4.3 upgrade (rc5 will be enough)

If I start this way, with no CGX libs at all. The wb is shown in the CGX "monitor" (both for that matter), and the computer freezes after a short minute or two...
I can run the setup twice, or copy the bootpic.library..
Then I get the CGX installed. but it won't patch further than RC1... If I manually patch RC 4/5/6... it shows an error message with the text: version of librarys do not match...

edit:
BTW if i install from the CD i get no option of installing BVision. only CyberVision.
and the update won't run, or just shows the option for CyberVision.
When i install the original BVision setupdisk, I can patch it to RC1. with the CD inserted...

if its failing when left at no startup, then its safe to say that its more the hardware then driver at fault.

have you applied extra power by attaching a floppy power cable from psu to the floppy port on a1200?  This was required for some configs and is even mentioned in the bppc manual.

@Mad-Matt

Yes, I have done all the modifications. power, cooling (carefully glued heat sinks to the chips of the BVision (and 040) and applied a fan over the sinks), I have modified the timing fault in the 1D4 1200 MB. +++

As i said, i am completely out of options....
I don't know whats left to do.

I have done as i said i would earlier in this post.
But the same happens. Installing CGX takes two attempts, or copy the bootpic.library in libs folder. And updating to newest version, stops at RC1... version of libs do not match...
And finally changing to CGX screen.... Crash...
And that is under a completely fresh install of OS 3.0. and absolutely nothing else... (except CD-rom and zip drive...)

bootpic always caused me problems so i never used it. It would lock up with a black screen if i enabled it. U need that floppy. Also it should be able to boot from a standard workbench disk and display no problem. So try and get a floppy workbench booting first and work from there

Usualy the corse or the system stalling at the bootpic is due to some other app opening a screen or requestor before cgx is started and/or before loadwb is called to close the bootpic.

this is mentioned somewhere in the cgx manual/changelog.

As for cgx version, I only used upto 4.3 rc5 (using voodoo/p96 atm).  No trouble patching up as the installer calls the cd and patches the cd libs as apposed to the ones already installed

why no boing bags?  I think it may be a good idea to update that and test.  Also just do a base 3.1 install and try with the drivers you got with the card?

The bootpic shows up just fine on my computer. (about the only thing that works on the BVision)

I have done that!

Quote

Because the boingbags are no issue to the BVision!
I need the BVision up and running first.

Like i said before, I only have WB 3.0.
But, booting from the WB floppy. With ALL harddrives disabled. And no drivers or screen modes installed at ALL.
The BVision shows the WB screen, in crappy and distorted colors. But it only shows that screen (even early startup menu)for a maximum of 10 minutes. depending on what i do. If it just idles it can go for 10 - 15 minutes... Doing something, like dopus... it goes for 1 - 4 minutes...
This is NOT a software or driver related issue. It is related to something HARDWARE! Something is not working properly.
In earlier posts I relate to other forums saying that the REV 0 of my PPC card MAY have something to do with my problems. since no software fixing does not target and repair my problems...
Not to rule something out. But it may or may not be the PPC card, or it may or may not be the BVision itself...
Or for last, it may be related to my A1200 being a REV 1D4.
Which Phase 5 accuse to be the most troubling A1200 MB...

My future attempts in fixing the problem(s):
- Try one or more of my friends A1200 MB (just to see if the
problems are in the same matter, or present at all)
- Try another BVision (buy or borrow one)
- Buy a new PPC card. (from eBay, or other options...) Since
I don't get the disk from DCE, in order to try that
  option...

@pyrre

As I'm going to open up my A1200PPC tower during the weekend for some hardware changes, I'll try to make a guide on how to install and setting up the BlizzardPPC and BVisionPPC combo.

Installation instructions for BPPC and BVPPC combo. Hopefully it will come in handy for a few out there.

1. Install OS3.9, BoingBag1 and BoingBag2. If you have a 040 based PPC card, install only 68040.library and 68040new.library in libs:, if a 060 based PPC card, install 68040.library, 68040new.library and 68060.library in libs. Latest 680x0 libraries can be found here.
2. Install CD support, and start the install script found on the CyberGraphX v4 CD. Don't choose a card, just install the software.
3. Unarchive the rc6 archive found here. After unarcing, start the update script, choose BlizzardVisionPPC and continue the update.
4. After the update has finished, reboot the computer and let it load Workbench. Open the prefs drawer and double click CGXMode. It will tell you that no settings are found, click OK, and the choose the prefered KHz setting from the dropdown menu called "Settings". Select a suitable screenmode, edit it, and get it set up so it displays through the BVPPC. Click OK, click OK once more, click Save and then Click Quit. Let the program reboot the computer.
5. Load Workbench and select a BVPPC screenmode in the Screenmode preference program. Click Use or Save.

The above 5. steps works for me, with a rev. 0 BPPC 040/160/SCSI and a BVPPC. I'm using a rev 14D motherboard, with timing fixes, and power supplied to the motherboard itself through the original power connector, as well as the floppy power socket on the motherboard. Finally there is power supplied directly to the BPPC through the fan connector of the board.

As for envs for CyberGraphX in the prefs program, I have ALERTEMU, HIDE15BIT, SUPERGELS, WBPATSPEEDUP, HIRESCRSR, PLANES2FAST, SUPERLAYERS and USESEMAPHORES ticked, all others unticked. As for screenmodes, I have to choose a VESA screenmode in order to get my TFT screen to display something useful.

As for a monitor drive in Devs:DOSDrivers. A icon will not be copied, so you need to do this yourself if you need it.

You can also try to install MorphOS PowerUP :
http://powerup.morphos-team.net/

Install it on a fresh and clean HDD, using only "FFS" that come with WB3.1 !
That must work. All the drivers are already into.
Keep the Faith !

That is nice...
So far, with the help of people here at amiga.org and other forums. plus dealers.

It is so far discovered that it is a hardware fault.
Since the BVision wont run for long with out hanging.
Even just showing the early startup menu, it hangs after a short time.

And due to shortage of available parts, Blizzard cards and BVision cards I will probably never find out what is the faulty part of my system... :-(

I had a similar problem to this but only after installing Warp3d drivers. The only way to stop it from freezing was to remove the powerpc library. Which I thought must have been something to do with the bvision being DCE and the blizzard being a phase5. I'm just rambling but I never found out how to sort it and never heard of anybody having the same problem before.
