Well, I agree that there is no definite style to the album, but I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing. Sure there are a couple of lemons on there (I've Got You for ex), but I actually found some of the music very interesting (example: the harmonies in All About You are quite enticing when they start opposing each other, and the orchestration in She Falls Asleep is lovely). I also think some of the lyrics are quite clever, especially in The Ballad of Paul K.
I know it's no masterpiece. But I think in its way it's quite charming, and I was surprised to find that I like it. And don't get me wrong, I'm not in to pop music *at all*. I'm also very critical of music and consequently my music collection is very small (because it's rare that I find an album interesting enough to listen to more than once).
