Ok:
- When will Amiga OS4 and new hardware to run it on be available?
- What hardware will be available for Amiga OS4?

How about "do you intend to recognize the crackpots/community as a source of development within Amiga Inc" or "How long can you keep everyone waiting for the next 20 questions."

or

Sod the 20 questions.  What about hardware for the software?

20 questions are futile.  It boosts Bill's ego and thats about it.  There were no revelations the last time.  Let Bill's sense of self importance implode and let him know that his lies and general uselessness are the reason we are still here in the first place.

Unless you all think Bill has been good for Amiga?

Where David Pleasance these days.  He had his heart with the Amiga and even today could do more with it in a month that Bill has in years.

Sorry to rattle on.  But Bill/Amiga - stop dangling carrots.  We now need action.  We now need hardware.  We now need to remove Windoze from our desktops.  WE WANT OS4 NOW.

3) How does the company which is based in the USA feel about outsourcing of IT work in the USA to other places outside the USA while there are tons of USA IT workers that are still layed off and can't find jobs?

A lot of US software houses that are a lot bigger than Ainc ( ie. they produce something) have been outsourcing thier nuts and bolts development and patching to India for at least the last 15 years that I am aware of.

Ok Hans, let me answer your questions.

We want to see OS 4 ship, but by the time we get everything worked out you may be running version 5. I should mention that while we have only talked about it once, OS 5 has been in development in Amiga by Amiga engineers and staff for over two years. We have made some amazing progress and we are pleased with the results to date.

Quote
- What hardware will be available for Amiga OS4?

We are in current discussions with three companies, and I believe that two of them have product and offerings that offer a competitive opportunity for the Amiga community. We are striving to get these deals complete, and until they are signed I am not at liberty to discuss them. I will say that Troika is not one of them, contrary to what is rumbling out there. Currently today there is only one company with a contract that can ship AmigaOS 4 with their hardware, and that is Eyetech. It is my goal to have at least one (maybe two) vendors who can supply the needs of the Amiga community and help it grow -- it has been far too long.
There must be a clear understanding however that we are looking for people and businesses that currently have revenues that can support this business. We request a business plan, budget and current revenue figures that are at least $ 500,000.00 per year in revenue.

I don't think it's up to Amiga Inc as long as there is a legal issue as to who actually owns it

Of course it is. AmiInc owns all OS source up to 3.9. If that was handed over to Hyperion, I'm guessing licenses for other platforms wouldn't be far behind.

Quote
and Hyperion has disappeared.

Do we know that, or have they just been served a gag order while legal proceding progress? I can think of several reasons they're running stealth at the moment. Doesn't mean they're gone for ever.

Quote
Besides, you have no hardware to run it on.

Pah-leeeze, there's a planet full of hardware to run it on. All it takes is a port. All that's needed for a port is permission from the IP holder. All we need is an IP holder open to the idea.

Quote
There is zero chance of them releasing it open source.

No argument there. Even as a corpse, the remains of the Amiga IP are worth $$$ and they're not going to give it away for free.

IF you proceed with this, please consider input/output in terms of a forum thread, as opposed to a "news" thread.

From Framiga after the last session of questions were accepted and processed:
Quote
no idea if easy feasible but ... it would be possible to split the thread on multiple pages?
It takes too long on Amiga Classic systems.
Thanks

It's also quite painful to negotiate long "news" threads on dialup as well.

Thank you for your consideration.

You could ask if they think

(C) Diehard & Crackpot

would be a good name for an upcoming
cell phone game. Maybe it could be
influenced by Ren & Stimpy.
AmigaOS or MorphOS on x86 would sell orders of magnitude more than the current, hardware-intensive solutions. And they\\\'d go faster. --D.Haynie

Sure I'm game. Let me phrase the sentiment of my earlier comment in to a question.....

Q) Will Amiga Inc allow smaller hardware vendors like ATI Innovations (SAM440EP Project) and EFKIA vendors to sell bundled Amiga Software on a 'per-device' license while dropping annual revenue restrictions?

You know one thing I have noticed is there is defiantly a renewed interest in Amiga as we know it. I have seen allot more activity here and on the Newtek's forum in the Amiga Thread lately. I wonder if more of us start squawking Amiga inc or whoever they are may take notice?
I doubt it but who knows?
Amiga 2000HD Indivision ECS
Amiga 4000D towerised OS 3.1 and 3.9 on CF cards
Indivision AGA, Mediator 4000
Video Toaster 4000 Flyer v4.3 Millenium.

Nice cut and paste job from his last response to 20 questions. However, an answer like that just isn't going to cut it this time. We need more concrete answers.

I found some parts in his last answers very concrete and to the point, e.g. "We request a business plan, budget and current revenue figures that are at least $500,000.00 per year in revenue" or the part that explicitly mentioned Troika as not being a party they are discussing/negotiating with. Another thing was him mentioning the legal dispute with Hyperion, that "is now in the hands of lawyers". He didn't _need_ to mention it (cause nobody knew or asked for it), but he still chose to do so, very much to our surprise as nobody heard of that before.
In hindsight, this explained at least some of the things that have _not_ been happening re: hardware.
This is information you usually wouldn't expect a CEO to disclose.

I would love for us to contribute good solid questions to Bill.  I also think we should keep things positive and not resort to bashing, name-calling, and other childish behavior.

Wayne, please let us know when you would like to start gathering questions.

Thanks so much!

I have only a couple of questions that i want a straight answer on: Have you so far given anyone a license for porting OS4 to their hardware? If not, then why not?
