The A1000 keyboard pinouts are (looking at the cable with the clip on the bottom, going left to right): Gnd, KBData, KBClk, and +5V. Easier and cheaper to get an old PC laptop than an A500 and use the following cable:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320104919302it will simulate not only the A1000 keyboard, but the mouse and joystick as well and won't draw any power from the A1000. The A500 keyboard uses a different way to reset than the A1000, A2000, A3000, and A4000. The A500 keyboard connector has a separate reset signal. Also, the pinouts given for the A500 in some documentations I have read have the pins incorrectly labelled. I already went through a whole bunch of Amigas in experimenting to implement the software simulation of the keyboard (included in MPDOS).
If you want to modify a keyboard for the A1000, use the A2000 or A4000 one.
