@drewz21:

she's already aware that the community knows (she's posted on here before about, guess what? similar issues). But it's still good to "remind" her of this fact, so that her sources of suckers dwindles...

Good luck with your filing, let us know if you get your money back

@James:

wow, what a story! I hope you got'em to pay you for the gas :-)

Basically these "chicken and egg" situation has been bugging me a lot lately, and I have the same problem with people and positive feedback. I intend to leave positive, but I can't trust that the other will 1) leave positive as well or 2) never leave feedback, which is still not cool because why should I give one, and not receive one, right? I'm the loser in either case.

So what I've decided is this: since I at least know myself and I'm not a crook and I do _intend_ to leave positive feedback, I wait for them. If they leave, then I'll leave too. If they don't I'll never leave for them either. Fsck'em. But I'll never leave first, unless I'm a buyer, in which case I'll leave whatever feedback based on what I bought.

I think on eBay one has a couple responses, but I'm not sure how many..

That's a negative RIGHT there, because you _know_ that she would have never returned the money had you not filed.

BTW, add this to her "file":

How come Boogiegail is still alowed to operate on Ebay and Paypal with the score she has?

I guess it will only be a matter of time before people will just decide she is a crook and no sales will happen until she opens a new account.

@da9000
I did not make them pay for the gas for two reasons. The first one is that I exchanged a used item I had paid 5$CDN for a brand spankin' new 2500$USD synth. And the second one is that I put the fear of god in them. I looked like some sort of psychotic killer at the time..shaved head..leather and spikes everywhere...boots up to your armpits (hence my 'cute adorable self' comment). And I looked *very* pissed at that particular moment. The guy's father was afraid, and it showed. That alone was worth the 25$ of gas (at the time.... today it would cost less to buy Yamaha and have them build me a custom synth).

@thread
Just an idea.. how about we all create bogus Ebay accounts and super-bid all her stuff? Stick it to her!

I think the reason is because the scoring system on eBay is broken. When you look at someone with 99.9% score and then one with 98.6% score, you naturally think they're both good. Afterall, you've been brainwashed for years at school to think anything above 90% is good. BUT in reality the two scores are WILDLY different. I would _never_ buy from a 98%, unless I'm desparate. I have 100%, and I intend to bend over backwards to please my customers and thus keep that, because it's really difficult to keep such a score.

So, for your second paragraph, she's not going to go away and "newbies" won't realize that she's so terrible, and they'll keep on buying from her. She'll be refunding money just to save her ass, and people will be giving neutral because of the "prompt" response and the story will continue...

What could be useful is something like that I link I pasted, because most people won't sit down and go through 50 pages to see the negatives (I do). Now with this new tool/site, it's really easy to focus on the negatives and avoid stupid actions, like buying from Boogiegail...

Hahahaha, that's awesome! Yes, you're right, gas prices weren't the same, and boy did you get a deal! 5CDN -> 2500U$, wow! And the "fear factor" :-D

She does deserve it, but frankly it won't do much as far as making the other buyers aware of her crookedness...

Yes I certainly agree with you. That scoring system isn't very useful because a lot of eBayers just reciprocate negative feedback whenever customers complain. I suspect that more eBay buyers would be much more frank about the service they receive if they weren't afraid to have their own feedback messed up for being honest.

I agree fully, because, unfortunately, I'm in that situation now, with 2 sellers.

The one dork never checked his email, and I never got the book I needed on time and I asked him to leave positive feedback, and I would not give him negative. He didn't. Now I want to leave negative, because he wasted 2+ weeks of my time and that book was needed by a certain date, but I'm afraid he'll retaliate and I don't deserve a negative: I paid right away. I was the perfect customer (you can't not be on half.com, since your money is taken right away). There's one option for me, but I'm debating using it: leave negative on the last day of the 90-day period. If he's quick, he can come back, but if not... Not sure I'll do it though.

As for the other dork... 2 of the 5 items are the wrong models. Argggg...

I also hate how eBay only gives 50 or so characters to explain oneself... Can barely describe the situation.

Well, I've escalated my issue to a claim with PayPal since I've still yet to hear from her.  I'm hoping to get my money back soon.

Wow, hope you get your $'s back man that really stinks that she continues to rip people off like that. I can't believe her, it's like shooting yourself in the foot I mean her reputation is going to continue to decline where nobody will deal with her at all.

I really think she did move like I posted earlier her phone number has changed in the last couple of days.

Anyhow I'm pullin' for ya.

I'm known on ebay as chicagojay.  I got negative comments from a problem seller that claimed he had to wait for my payment when in reality, I paid promptly.  He was so disorganized with keeping track of who paid what when that he posted the negative comment about me.  What's to stop another problem seller from blaming the buyer & leaving negative feedback to deflect problems with themselves when they themselves lack integrity?

i'm currently waiting for WB 1.3 disks and manual from BoogieGail myself.  :-D i've even received the "i'm too busy..." email - about two weeks ago. if this was any more than $15 i'd be furious, i think i'll (try to) contact her.

here's something though - i recently sold a spare A500. i've just heard from the buyer that he's not able to use the RGB/Video port with his monitor. now, i'm sure that i used that A500 along with an A520 adapter when i got it, i know the port worked fine. for whatever reason, the buyer thinks that i've sold him this unit as defective and wants a refund. of course, the auction was 'as-is due to age' so i'm not sure what to do. also, it looks like he bought one in December that may have been pretty whipped. not sure what happened with that, he didn't end up leaving feedback for the seller. any thoughts on this? is it common/possible for the RGB/V port to go bad? all my other ones work fine, i'm having a hard time believing this...

The commonality (or not) of the fault is irrelevant if you sold it as-is.

There are obviously issues going on with Boogiegail that we aren't aware of and don't understand.  She has been selling too long to be just a rip-off artist.  She has sold far too many things to be doing this just to steal peoples money.  I have dealt with her probably a half dozen times with mixed results but in the end everything has worked itself out.  The most recent was buying a MKII from her that included a manual (the manual was in the picture in the listing) and when the package arrived it wasn't in it.  Somehow it came up missing.  Eventually she sent me $20 for not getting it but how do you lose a manual that's part of a listing?  It makes no sense.  I would deal with her again simply because she often offers things that are desirable and rare and that you might only see once or twice a year on Ebay.  I would not take the chance of dealing with her on common items such as the 1.3 disks mentioned above because these are available every day of the week on Ebay.  You are taking the chance of a hassle when you deal with her but it does seem that eventually things work themselves out.  Either you get your item or a refund.  I am not writing this to defend her because causing people these problems is no way to do business.  We have to remember that everybody in this world is not created equal.  There are people of all different IQ ranges and economic situations.  What seems obvious and straight-forward to us might not seem that way to the next person.  To end this I will just say that I don't think we are dealing with a bad person here, just someone with some problems of some sort.  It's easy to say that she should stop selling, but probably not so easy for her to give up the money she makes from doing it.

Dan
