Read it and be amazed.

http://www.jameswoodcock.co.uk/?m=20060808

Its a sign, that what I say may be true, even if sony doesnt agree with Amiga being allowed to use sony games on Amiga, sonay has no choice, as the games can be directly played on an Amiga system.

People Please read the whole article before commenting, thank you.

P.S.I told you guys theres a chance sony and Amiga may have to make a deal! Also because of the wii situation may just have helped Amiga's status for sony, regardless of it being a Niche market!

Cheers!! 8-)  8-)

As a muician who started on the Amiga, I know all about MOD's... I have no idea what this has to the fever induced delirium that is otherwise known as OS5...

Does anyone have a clue on the happenings of OS5?

Do you? Or even better, do you have any clues on the OS4 sellings/reviews from customers?

Quote

Also, is there at all a future for Amiga, or are all of you expecting it to become another dead platform and company in a few years time?

Let me consult the crystal ball...

Now, lets get down to some other things, I believe Amiga will still be alive in 10 years time, and If we are all lucky, with OS4 OS5 and maybe even an OS6, and that the Amiga Niche Market will start growing, this is what I forsee happening, all those who beg to differ, let the world Of Amiga.org know.

As a fortuneteller, you are great. Now you must also practice some voodoo (not the gfx card;-) ), to make sure all this happens.

By the way, I really believe this is where certain members negativity can shine in this posting, so please, by all means, go NUTS!

You have already gone NUTS, that's enough for all of us here.

AmigaOS 5 was supposed to be a hosted environment that could work on top of another operating system or an unhosted native version.  (According to the now blocked Q&A session with Fleecy Moss on AmigaWorld.net .)  It would work on any processor and allow cross-platform development for other operating systems but require the native OS for maximum performance.

My thoughts:  Not needed any more now that Java 6 is out and open-sourced.  Now we just need an OS 4 version of Java, a decent web browser, and new hardware to run OS 4 on.  Also, SDL is very cross-platform compliant but still requires a recompile of the source to work on other platforms.  If a build system based on Java or LLVM could make SDL apps binary compatible between platforms we'd have something.

@SamuraiCrow :

So, I thought OS5 was going to be a standalone OS that can run on any platform, and computer system, ie PC, or MAC or Amiga Hardware??

Also, when you say hosted environemnt, do you mean, one needs to have another OS underneath it?? And if so, that'd be crap wouldnt it, I mean, what about those of us that would want to run OS5 on its own??

Cheers!!

And yes, I agree with you, Cant wait till the new hardware hits the shelves.

Mr.Hardware man Russ will be pleased, as I am eagerly awaiting!! 8-)  8-)

Bloodline:

My point was only to point out that, Amiga system can play sony stuff, whether sony wants or allows us to or not, we can play it!

Cheers!!

Hence theres a bigger chance that sony may either see this as a good thing, and join, or maybe even buy out Amiga Inc, and make Amiga big again??

Call it, Sony Amiga Systems??

Or if they decide to be with Amiga inc, then that would be great too!

Only a Sony PS3 can play PS3 software. And, until someone writes a PS3 emulator (and AMD/intel processors get a bit more powerful), only a PS3 will play PS3 software.

OK then, whatever, I must've mis read some articles then.

Anyway, is CD32Freak, hnl_dk, Jd997Uk, IKIR, KAY, SEER, MAD, Elektr, are these people still on these forums??

Just curious, as I saw some postings from a while back, and i think I vaguely remember IKIR!!

Anyway, for some reason my 1060 sidecar isnt being recognised by my A1000. SO Im going to have to pul it apart again on the weekend, DAMN IT!

Maybe I jsut need to re attach something, Ill check that the AST Rampage and EasyFix ECH-30+ HD cards are still plugged in properly while im at it.

Im thinking it may be the connection between the A1000 and the 1060 sidecar from the side of the A1000???

ANyway, hope it all gets working again on weekend!!

Just to save me from having to read, hey bloodline, do you know if I can run Workbench 3.1 on my A1000?? Thats assuming I can get my sidecar working, then I'll end up upgrading my A1000 a bit for fun, while a wait for the new HArdware to come out for OS4 or OS5, whichever happens!

Cheers!! 8-)  8-)

I'm pretty sure you can't install the 3.1 ROMs into the A1000 as commodore never built ROMS for it... though perhaps some A500 ROMS might fit?
