OS5 and beyond
« on: February 19, 2007, 01:34:24 AM »
Ok Ladies and gentlemen, lets get out the boing balls and get them rolling!

Does anyone have a clue on the happenings of OS5?

Also, is there at all a future for Amiga, or are all of you expecting it to become another dead platform and company in a few years time?

I wanna hear peoples negativity, as not many of you see any positives, im sure this will be easy to retrieve in this posting!

Now, lets get down to some other things, I believe Amiga will still be alive in 10 years time, and If we are all lucky, with OS4 OS5 and maybe even an OS6, and that the Amiga Niche Market will start growing, this is what I forsee happening, all those who beg to differ, let the world Of Amiga.org know.

By the way, I really believe this is where certain members negativity can shine in this posting, so please, by all means, go NUTS!

Cheers!!

And have fun posting!

P.S.Anyone who knows any LINKS for OS5 that are useful information, please post them on this thread!

Cheers again!! 8-)  8-)
AMIGA will rise!

starke your crazy!.....far as i know Bill's got 0S5 designers programmers silenced.  sounds like the improvements mac made till they got their latest final ver. of mac os.  I see us around, surviving without any real direction yet not abandoned entirely.  like i said the other night, the software will move on but the hardware.....that's another question. :-(

@Zyphoid And Beyond:

Thank you, you gotta be a little crazy!

I see, so you think that Amiga Inc has already planned OS5 to simply run on PC hardware and MAc Hardware???

Also, I think, theres a chance they want to try and over ride the other Operating Systems out there.

To do this, I wonder how legal it is?Like If they manage to be able to get OS5 Running all Mac and Windows software on it, as well as their own Amiga software on it, how legal is that?

Anyway, things happen, besides, legal or not legal, once it slips onto the market, even the black market trades may start happening if a product like that existed!

One way or another, it'd get out there!

Lets see what future joy rides we could all be having with Amiga. I cant wait for my next joy ride, how about you guys and gals out there??

Cheers!! 8-)  8-)

even better link
yea legally cross platfom don't mean squat so long as the operative native software isn't compromised or changed.
remember the old os/2 win 95 battles... and even now mac's got bootcamp that emulates pc's with aros morph ect, linux and its open sources I would love it if we did cross platform.  And whats the deal with Sony? they are entertaining talks at least that is the rumor.

@zyphoid:

Talk to me man, is it true, that Sony and Amiga Inc may make a deal, due to the Wii winning over the sony's playstation, and the fact that sony is not allowed to use what the wii is using for PS4???

Maybe Amiga inc and sony are working on OS5 to accept PS3 and new PS4 games, and allow Amiga and sony PS4 to use something like virtual reality??

Let us know Any site information or links you have on the topic. For that matter, if you find any information regarding any deals Amiga Inc may be making with bigger companies, post them here.

THE AMIGA COMMUNITY DESERVE TO KNOW.

Cheers Bud, your turning out to be a ledgend already! 8-)  8-)

I find it highly unlikely that Sony would "tarnish" it's image by associating with likes of Amiga Inc. (Given Amiga Inc.'s current form, holdings, players, reputation, status and etc.)

well then dude your gonna really like this!!!

Sony to licence OS4
Hyperion fans break out the alcohol-free champagne (guaranteed not to cause suicides with 90% of anti-depressants) as Sony accept Hyperion's AmigaOS clone. OS4 will be bundled with the Playstation 3 beginning early 2007. Despite costing over 100 USD more than planned because of this bundling deal, Sony expect PS3's sales to be heavier than ever due to OS4 and its huge fanbase.

think i'll keep the link to myself 4now! ;-)

think about it..how else are we going to get our hands on the now coveted 3.2ghz chip you know the one mac didnt get and consequently abandoned in light of intels.  with an engine (ps3) running at that speed and the software optimized for it wow now I'll get one! gee, where does this leave A1...assuming the deal goes through! :getmad:

@zyphoid:

Well then, you may as well share the link with us.

I mean, many on here, if this link that your hiding actually exists, would be in awe.

And maybe they would start to actually be quiet and more useful towards Amiga's future!

Anyway, many here have been very useful in the past! Hopefull in the future thay can still be of use when Amiga starts growing again!

Cheers!! 8-)  8-)

HAHAHAHAHA.

The ps3 has layer that prevents direct hardware comms with the O.S. it's called the Hypervisor. Sony isnt allowing anyone direct access to MOST of the playstation 3's hardware. including the SPE's and the Nvidia RSX or the RSX RAM.

Even if somehow this actually took off.
(which would make me jerk off quite severely)

I dont think SONY would give Hyperion access to it.
OR anyone else for that matter. but i could be wrong.
