I Hate Mac II
« on: February 15, 2007, 04:02:10 PM »
Seriously folks, there was nothign trolling about the first topic for those who choose to read the message and the article. If some choose to get upset, then deal witht hem.

I foudn the story humourous and thought that perhaps someone had pissed on the guys cornflakes sometime back in collgeg.

I own a Mac, Amiga 3000, 2000 and 500, Wintel 03 server and Xp box. They all get along ;)

Closing the other thread is a little bit drastic. Of course, I find humour in a lot of things and try not to take life too seriously.

I also agree that OS ten is very much what I would expect the Amiga to be today if it was still in production. And with Apple TV, the ipod and such, it does nto seem to much different than what metabox and Amiga had said they wanted to do.

At least someone was willing to listen to the Amiga's many features and carry on the tourch -- at least that is how I feel. I still sadens me when I read old articles or watch old commercials and shows... it was so far ahead of its time!

PS -- pardon my spelling

I have absolutely no problem with the closure. I applause it.

Granted my opinion might not have much to do with my feelings about Mac...

The article was written by someone who obviously felt a bit threatened by the Mac for reasons that escape me. It was poorly researched and just there to get a rise out of people, which it did to some extent.

Mac has a 5% share of the market so I doubt it's ever going to be any threat to the PC anytime soon. In some ways I'm glad it's a niche product. Keeps the hackers elsewhere. Plus you get that pride and loyalty that reminds me of the loyalty I had to Commodore before they went bust and left me with a brand new CD32 with no future.

The fate of Commodore and the Amiga are so closely entwined with Apple. Commodore had a chance to buy Apple at one point and then Apple had a chance to buy Commodore and the Amiga at a later date. Where would we be today if either had happened?

@Chubbyrain

I hate to admit it, but if Commodore had bought Apple, it would have been the end of all of them. But, I strongly believe that Apple having bought Commodore would have served us all well. Steve is a savvy business guy with some great ideas.

There is nothing wrong with a niche market, which is much where we are today. I wonder how much we can grow if we get OS4 to run on new hardware. I am still very much interested.

Your right.   it's been a decade! the industry isn't the same since then.  already there are talks of A0s5-6...it's good so long as they bring the platform with them!  too much legalities and finance issue.
Are there enough amiga users world wide anyway. I know not in the US! :pissed:

I think it will take a brave soul to donate Amiga to GNU for free development.

Amiga Inc does not have any deliverables in ten years. It's hard to imagine they will do much more in ten more. However,t his year there appears to be several motherboards wanting an OS and of course the great work being done by the guy responsible for X-surf -- the name eludes me for now.

Amiga users are falling off because old hardware is dying out and there is no new hardware. I would not worry about the lack of users, it is the lack of results from Amiga Inc that is our biggest concern. Look at what Amiga Forever has done ont he emulation front! Imagine if the OS development was not tied up!

Couldnt my original post have been this simple, without having the wrong type of people in it at all.

That aside, back to my comment:
Yes, the new Mac OSx is good, but, I still believe we(Amiga) would have had it better if they hadnt gone bankrupt!

That also aside, just in case many of you havent seen a part of OS4, heres a nice link displaying screens:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWmMSPJZprQ

This clip inspires me even more, and fuels me also.

But hey, that doesnt mean that I am Biased, Ive done work on Macs before, played on them, and Ive even used my friends laptop, and there is one thing that is good about them,
They make me relaxed when I use them, as if I suddenly have all the time in the world, but the Amiga still does it better for me in this department!

Anyway, for those who havent seen that you tube clip, enjoy!
And if youd like you can comment on it.

Cheers!!
AMIGA will rise!

I'm sorry to have to let you in on this, but turns out Apple hasn't quite gone bankrupt yet. In fact it doesn't even look like they're headed in that general direction.

@Jorkany:

My apologies, I meant Amiga wouldve had it better if they hadnt gone bankrupt. Althoug, Amiga may still do very well in future, as many future plans are making the production phase!

cheers 8-)

I don't think that restarting this thread was such a good idea. It's bound to escalate into a flame war once again. Everyone has a biased opinion, one way or the other, but at the end of the day it doesn't really matter, 'cause Apple has nothing to do with the Amiga and never will.

The fact that there is no new hardware or new software on the Amiga has forced everyone to look for another home. Some people found it on the Mac, others on Windows, others on Linux, others on ... and others are still looking around.

Although I feel the need to reply to some of the posts in this thread, I'm not going to because frankly it is utterly pointless. This is an Amiga website not an Apple website, regardless of what each of us feels about Apple.
