More Amiga adventures in the SF bay area
« on: February 08, 2007, 12:31:23 AM »
Ha ha. Score on some equipment! There was a listing on craigslist for a Chinon HD floppy drive for $1. It was from a computer liquidation company and they were on the Peninsula near the SF airport, and only open from 9-3. This was the one odball piece of equipment they got from a liquidation, and he checked the model and posted it as the kind of floppy drive that went in Amigas. Luckily, I had a little spare time after dropping off a friend at the hospital, and went down, and got there just as they were closing. Not bad for one buck. It looks in pretty good shape, no dents, and the face plate has no dirt or smudges. Hardly any dust! Can't wait to try it out in my A3000.

For those who know, its the Chinon rev B model FB-357, and there are three jumper pins in the back, the two on the left are jumpered. Does anyone know those are for?

Nope, I'm looking at it right now. The label on the back says

Rev B model FB-357
serial no. 10207925
Chinon ind, inc. Made in Japan

Is there a list of these things somewhere? Google doesn't turn anything up.

What's the name and exact location of the company?  I could visit it when I'm in the area in a few weeks.

Hi Robert. I'm not sure about the name of the company, Mike never mentioned it to me, just gave me the location and met me downstairs with the floppy drive. His email was northbaycomp(at)yahoo(dot)com

The building is at 533 airport blvd in Burlingame and his phone is 415-675-1944, their hours are 9-3, just call ahead so they can buzz you in the building.

If you come from the San Mateo Bridge, exit peninsula, and if you come from S.F. exit broadway

See ya.
