More than that.  I could have bought onoe at the St. Louis Gateway Amiga show back in 1998 for $225.  Unfortunately I didn't.  :(

Is Village Tronic still in business, run by the same people?  They have to have noticed the high prices P-IV boards are getting as well as the number of bids and overall interest they elicit when they go up for auction.  Why on earth won't they capitalize on that with a re-release, or even better, an upgrade?  :-D   Wishful thinking, I know.  But it seems to me they could make some money with a rerun of the P-IV, perhaps even the first ever profit making venture in Amiga Hardware!     :lol:

@stopthegop

Too busy with other hardware these days. A few hundred cards for Amiga probably doesn't show up on their radar any more. Maybe if they released technical info, some one else my be intnerested in a re-release or new card.

I think Village sold the rights to someone else. Before I shipped this mentioned card to Amiga centre I tried to obtain schematics and info to repair myself. They said they had no info and the gentleman searched archives and same result. Thank goodness Amiga Centre still has info and does repairs.  :-D

Forget about Villagetronic. The person who did the Picasso IV quit VT not long after it's release. This person tragically died taking all knowledge with him.

It is sad about the death of lead designer Klaus Burkert (2001) but what you say about him is not true.

He was still working at VT in 1999, two years after the launch of the Picasso IV.

It is also not true that "he took all knowledge with him". Klaus worked as the leader of a team and one member of that team and close friend of Klaus, Tobias Seiler, was left the rights to all VillageTronic Amiga designs that Klaus and he worked on.

Tobias is currently working at a University (as a student) but he has already helped me get updated chips for my PIV and plans to make some more products / offer services in the future.

Interesting news. What kind of updated did you get for your picasso? Does his future plans include classic hardware?

Sorry, might have gotten some details wrong, got those from a guy who gave me Tobias' mail adress.

Tobias has now fixed one of my Picasso IV's for me. (wasn't recognised at all)
I do know he's got a bunch (quite a bit actually) spareparts from either klaus or VT.

Hope he takes it further, or is able to help more people out by upgrading or fixing P4's.

Well perhaps suggesting to Tobias, that Picasso IV's are in a demand state, which might warrant a production run.  Assuming he has enough of the knowledge to accomplish a fresh production run.
