A1200 and Jabberwocky problems
« on: January 16, 2007, 07:26:48 PM »
Hello guys,
I have revived my A1200.
I have a 030 accell and Wireless LAN. infact I am posting using my migi now.
However I am trying everything but I am not able to run Jabberwocky. Or better yet I am not able to connect.
I am using the same account information that I use with winuae and it works ok. however when I click on connect it doesn;t do much.
Any ideas what it could be wrong?
Thanx in advance
PS: how do I send you the snoopdos.log? I cannot find a way to upload it.

@BiL0

What connection software are you using?
I have the same problem when using Easynet.
Works fine when I switch to Miami.

Also have the same problem with AmiNetRadio.
Amirc give the error message unable to open TCP stack.
Again all work fine using Miami.

Firstly, Ivanhoe, Jabberwocky is not a browser, it's an IM (Instant Messaging) Jabber client.

AmiBiLO:  You are experiencing problems connecting due to not having a "good" server in your Jabberwocky PREFs.

Read the docs.  It tells you to go to http://www.jabber.org
Then, click on the link at the left: "Servers", then on the "Servers" page, click on: "Public Servers".  That will take you to the following URL: http://www.jabber.org/user/publicservers.shtml

On this page, there are a bunch of public servers listed on this page.  You're just going to have to try each & every one until you get on that logs you in.

For the other clients, such as AIM or MSN, just enter the servers for them.  You can get the server info from the AIM or MSN client preferences there.

Get back to me if you need further help.

Thank you all for the reply.
I use AmimTCP and as server I use njs.netlab.cz as it seems to support MSN and lots more. However even if I try to register to lots of other server (which some of them don't work) the result is the same when I try directly from my Amiga.
it seets there saying "connecting" but nothing happens. At least in winUAE it tells you that can;t connect or connection failed etc.
I use same account on my winUAE and works fine with njs.netlab.cz.
I think it may be AmiTCP as you're saying.
But my snoopdos doesn't say anything about trying a TCP stack.
I may try Miami soon. I am downloading it.
I was trying with 1.6 and 1.7 same result.
More news tonight if I can mange to install Miami.
Thanx again

im using 1.7 without any problem (on netlab.cz or jabber.cz).
1.6 has some bug with logging-on (unencrypted password or something with that).

but first you need tcp working, try it witj ibrowse, or aweb. IM is always second step.
too lazy to use shift key properly...

Thank you Chain,
As mentioned I can browse (I use IBrowse and AWeb fine no problem)
I use as well AMtelnet for SSH etc. Everything works perfect with AmiTCP but Jabberwocky.
I wanted to try AMSN but no joy there either. it complains that I need bsdsocket.lib. however I would prefer to have jabberwocky working then anything else, unless any of you guys can suggest a better client for MSN

thanx again
