Uhh... the thread is : Should people buy an Amiga ONE.  I think my post is COMPLETELY ON TOPIC. MY answer is NO, not right now. It is great hardware (except for DMA bugs) but there is NO OS YET.
magnetic

ps Posts about running only LINUX on A1 WILL keep coming up until OS4 is RUNNING on A1. People are laying out hard earned $$ and are not informed enought about what is REALLY going on in the Amiga world and will be dissapointed with LINUX. They bought the machines to run OS4 NOT Linux (well most of them) the way Ainc talked - no talk - about OS4 is that its right around the corner and IT ISNT even close for A1. We'll see about OS4 on Cyberstorm soon I hope.

No. The thread is about:

"Who has or will buy an AmigaOne Computer System?"

Sorry. :-)

As soon as there's an OS and assuming Elbox perform a miracle, I'll do a direct comparison between the SharkPPC/OS4, Pegasos/MophOS and AOne/OS4.

How can I possibly chose until they're all on the market?

Warface: right :)

PMC: Elbox? You mean Mediator support and Shark PPC - I would forget about it if I were you. Hyperion has their hands full just getting OS4 on Cyberstorm never mind Shark. A1 is the next priority. Maybe a year from now for Shark Support... if Ever

@Magnetic

WHEN people like you come on HERE and start acting like TOTAL arses.  It serves NO purpose but to TURN people OFF whichever system THEY are evangilsing.

I'm SURE you'd throw a mental IF someone came onto a thread about a new MorphOS feature and  STARTED raving about stolen source or SOME other nonsense.

p.s. : Yes I am taking the piss.

@uncharted
 First off I never post like this. I'm just tired of the Ainc BS. I'm WARNING people about Amiga 1 reality. IF they had OS4 running on it I would be the FIRST to endorse it. Fact of the matter is its going to be months before even a BETA of OS4 on A1. THIS IS FACT. (IF ANYONE FROM HYPERION WISHES TO PROVE THIS IS FALSE PLEASE DO SO) I respect Hyperion and like them very much. They have a lot on their plate. But, I feel bad for all the poor blind Amiga zealots that believe everything Fleecy says or Ainc posts. What is it like 5 people that run Ainc from their home office or something?
 What if they cant get OS4 running on A1? Then what? All the poor believers will be out $1000. I'm going to a friend's house tonight becuase he is having trouble installing LInux on his A1. Eyetech/Hyperion didnt even supply people with a Linux installer! Ah... whatever.
  Oh, and as far as "stolen code" goes. Everyone at this point knows its bullshit. The old Phase5 guys were the FIRST to have a NATIVE PPC OS for Amiga. If Amiga INC had went with Ralph and Frank and MorhpOS for OS4 we would all be running it NOW on G4s and whatever else.. And they wouldnt be almost bankrupt like they are now!

I've waited ten years for a successor to my A1200(s), and am prepared to wait a little longer.  Nobody knows exactly how things are going to turn out, so I'll continue to bide my time until such a point when (if) I can look at each solution in detail and make up my mind then.

Mangetic, I know your post was well intentioned, but please remember that stuff like that is often treated as flamebait by those who've nothing more constructive to say.  Not knocking you mate, but I don't think this place really needs more of that kind of thing going on.

You're quite wrong there..  AmigaOS4 is coming, and that right soon.

See AmigaOS 4.0 On Tour.

And, as far as the stolen source code comment goes, I think you missed the point, which is not the accusation's accuracy or validity itself but that of bringing it up in every post that comes up just as a distraction to your cause from the current topic.

I don't know if I will buy an AmigaONE, maybe the AmigaTWO...no don't go searching on google, I mean the next version...or maybe another licensee if that ever happens.

Maybe it will be an amigaONE, like others I am just waiting on a confluence of events....a reasonable price (though i will pay a premium, just not a $500 premium)...OS 4 a must, probably some good OS 4 apps, like 3d renderers, animation studio's, etc....
and oh yes, the biggest obstacle may be that I'll buy something else on impulse, and then I have my quota of computers in the house.....I almost bought a pegasos, and that would have killed the idea of an AmigaONE for me...how many weird computers does a person need (I would normally say all he can get, but my wife might not agree).

but all in all probably a 25% chance i will own an amigaONE sometime.

I'll buy one when OS4 rocks on it. Or maybe I'll buy the BlizzardPPC version (low finances @ the moment) and wait for the 64bit PPC from IBM to come to the Amiga.

Fact is, it's an expensive toy. That said, I will buy one when I have the money to justify buying an expensive toy. Probably in the fall.

I will after OS4 is out, and after I see what kinds of software is being developed, and after I see some reviews and After I see a AmigaOne in action, working on some ones desk, showing off all of its earth shattering features, and mind blowing software.

Just like the day I was going to buy an Atari 1040st system at J&R computers, but the Amiga 500 was sitting right next to it and after about 4 hours of playing around with each system the Atari and the Amiga (man I was in the store the entire day), I decided on the Amiga 500.  its like that with almost every new platform I took into consideration.
There was a time I can remember computers were fun...I miss my A1200.

@Hmetal
 I'm glad someone from the OS4 team posted. When you say I'm "wrong" about OS4 are you saying that it will be running PPC native on the 7th (the start of the tour) I hope so. I just want to know if that is what you are saying.
