I've edited out the rest as it was a personal insult on an Amiga Inc employee, mixed with a personal opinion on his knowledge, suggestions, and a bit of calculation concerning OS4 expected release date.

Can we say on topic, and self restraining ourselves from telling other people they are wrong, when they are right on spot? And using false suggestions, wording it so that we can deny it later? Thank you.

My A1 is currently (at my request) held up at Eyetech - I will be on me 'olidies for a coupla weeks, and dont want it waiting for me at home causing a damper on my family vacation !
and yes I bought it to run AmigaOS on it, but NO I dont mind only having Linux for the time being. As it Happens I have Debian on me 1200T - bit of a Dog on an 030/AGA - cant wait to see it on a PPC/Radeon ! so there ! :-D

I had an AmigaOne XE on order, but I cancelled it in January when I became fed up of waiting for a status update from Eyetech.  I had decided that as I had been good enough to pre-order their product then the least they could do was to keep me informed about how and when it would be delivered.

Now I'm just sitting on the sidelines and monitoring the situation.  As soon as OS4 is ready then I'll re-order an AmigaOne with the fastest available processor.  Meanwhile, I'll keep playing with my PC's and classic Amigas...

The problem is that this has been repeated so many time it is meaningless without some sort of timescale.

Eyetech offered AmigaOnes in 2002 with the statement "Our best estimate is that OS4 will be available in Jan 2003". What could this estimate possibly have been based upon?

When somebody said it won't be ready by Easter 2003 they were shouted down with "Shut up - you know nothing - it is progressing"

OS4 modules running on PPC accelerators is very different from a full release of OS4 for AmigaOne machines. OS4 forAmigaOne is not Hyperion's priority. I have seen a post from Hyperion which said they hoped or believed they could have it ready before the end of the year. Why not just announce that as a target date. We can then settle down with AmigaOnes and Linux without fretting about AOS4 for another six months.

For me, what's holding me back is raising the money. I am prepared to buy it, sight unseen, as I know, they (Hyperion) know what Amigans EXPECT.

As for it being expensive, someone has to absorb the cost of R&D. Even Sony did it with the high cost of PS1, and they're a multi-billion dollar company.

Remember the OUTRAGEOUS price of Neo-Geo and 3DO??

I'm going to buy an A1 XE G4 @1.3GHz.
Put in 2 gigs of ram and FLY.
750 Meg Zip drive, RAID HD 2*80 Gig.
ATI 7500
Desktop case (hori.), not a tower.
Should get a Catweasel to read Amiga floppies.
Hope to be able to boot off of a 32 Meg compact flash card (for those oooos and aaahhhhssss)!

Rock solid, working well, and DID come with a Linux Install disk (for the post that says it didn't)

No OS4 here YET, but I'll remain silent on that point.

Magnetic, you've TOLD US THE FACTS at least three seperate times in this particular thread already.  

As a matter of fact, if you haven't noticed, every major amiga message board has had at least one person (usually more like 10 or so) TELLING US THE FACTS that you seem to need to promulgate in your great civic duty to the public.

 It is virtually impossible for someone to spend more than 5 minutes looking at nearly any amiga message thread without your particular nugget of info coming up, so how about you find a different piece of information  to repeat endlessly on the message boards until it becomes pollution, nobody's shocked by your current message, people have been yelling it for years.
