I've screwed up! Can someone help me with the first disk of Escom WB3.1?

I've managed to owerwrite the first of 6 disks of the Escom WB3.1..pm me please. It's important that it's the Escom version.

I probably can't help but anyway I'd like to say that you have to be more clearly if anyone should help you.

By "Escom WB 3.1" you probably mean the disk set for the A4000T with a disk-based workbench.library, don't you ? Other than that all disk sets are the same AFAIK.

And which one do you mean by "the first of 6" ? There is Workbench, Extras, Storage, Locale, Fonts and Install, but they don't have numbers on them.

I mean the Workbench-disk (they are often numbered when distributed as files online, wich I don't like that's why I bought them, now I've screwed up and don't want to buy a whole new set when only one disk is overwritten).

The versionnumber is 370300-98 and I think it was sold from the year 1995. I don't know what amiga's they were meant for but probably the 4000, yes.

Just an idea - why not download the adf file and write it back to the disk?

(I know that this is probably not technically legal, but if you've bought the disks legally IMO it's not piracy...)

Well the reason he aint downloaded the adf is because they are nowhere to be found due to being able to still buy them..I am in the exact same boat apart from my install 3.1 has errors on it and i did have a second set but believe it or not i cant come across the install...

People who own the disks, should be able to download, copy or aquire another copy. That is not piracy.  If I had it I would make you a copy.

That's what I thought and that's why I'm asking..I'm sure someone out there has a copy and can make a .adf?
I've bought 3.1, 3.9, lots of games and hardware (must be at least £600 worth of stuff) the last couple of years so I don't feel bad about asking

Thing is it seems like the escom-release and the others aren't fully compatible. Eg. my Escom wb boots up without having to change floppy's, the new one I got hold of today (an older one) had to use locale and install to boot up, and it also had some other visable differences.

Just use any Workbench. It doesn't matter whether it's the Escom one or not. You're only using it to create your OS3.9 emergency disk. After that you will never need the 3.1 disks again.

I need it for my a600 :)by the way I will be getting a 630/40 next week in the mail ..is it no prob. to install 3.9 on it? is it any point considering the week graphics of ecs?

i will be installing debian on it anyway, for fun ofcourse, does anyone know if getting a boot-menu with amigaos and debian is difficult/impossible?

It will run on that spec, but it won't be particularly fast.

You run a command under AmigaDOS to launch Linux m68k. So you could have a boot menu in your startup-sequence which either continues with the Amiga SS, or runs the Linux bootloader.

EDIT: My problem now motorollin, is that I can't get the installation for 3.1 to accept my hdd! since it's a type 7 "optical drive" the install can't recognise it or whatever is the problem. anyone?
