Prepare to invest quite a lot of money if you _really_ want to expand your A1200. It's fun to do, though, and you will end up with  very nice machine.

I have added tons of expansions myself and am running OS3.9. I still have (and will keep it that way!) my A1200 in its original case and will definitely not towerize it. The drawback for me is that I cannot use a graphicscard and will have to make do with AGA, thus creating a bottleneck for my system. This can be remedied for a large part by using only 4 colours on your workbench. 256 colour Workbench does look better, though... :-)

Anyway, if you want to take a look at an expanded A1200, just whistle. Schellinkhout is just around the corner, and you can reach Enkhuizen from there on your wenkbrauwen... ;-)
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

Can this be obtained without damaging the floppy frame?

haha, you do realize that CDROMs are larger than diskettes?
Better sorry than worry.

Hi, Well I personally would go for a CD-ROM
OS 3.9, and a bigger hard drive. Otherwise, get NSD patch
from Aminet, if you want to go with OS3.9.  It can be a bit tricky, (from what I have heard)
but worked for me for 2 years. (OS 3.1, 8.5GB Seagate drive)

Many people have mixed feelings about OS 3.5/3.9, even I do.
If you want best game compatability, OS 3.9 can be trouble.

Oh, OctaMed SoundStudio has been mentioned in this thread, highly
recommended. I think it may be on Aminet, as well. At least
it was on one of my Aminet CD's.

For music, I am not sure if more fast RAM would help.
You need a graphic card...to free up Chip RAM (I do too!)

Hey everyone, the MOD player 'EaglePlayer' can store samples
in Fast RAM, can any music writing programs do this?
