Cats are the perfect incarnation of what i think a pet should be.

They are not "slave" of anything/anybody. They gives theyr love only to whom deserve it.

Don't get me wrong.... i have had many dogs as well.but cats, are just "cats" :-)

ahhh! forgot to mention.... all that "band" in a flat :-/

I never cry (even for my lost parents/friends and unfortunately a partner as well) but the latest time it was for one of them.

EDIT- irishmike apologize for this demi-hijacking

After a time pets become like a family member. My condolences for your loss.

Sorry for your loss dude, I've never had cats (they don't like me and I'm allergic) but I remember when our two white alsatian twins died many years ago now, the brother of a lung tumor and the sister a year and a bit later of a heart attack - both congenital problems along with some digestive problems.

Both times it felt like a sharp kick to my gut since they died so young (I think the siste only reached 5) and I was quite young at the time aswell.

It sucks to lose a pet, especially one who's been part of the family for so long.

I really appreciate all the kind thoughts and stories of pets.  Peeper was a part of the family and all the sentiment and feeling in your posts have helped ease the loss a little.

I appreciate it.

Time will heal this wound too.

It is kind of funny but our other cat (her name is Casey) has just noticed that her "sister" is missing.   They were not litter mates and it was a little challenge integrating them over a year ago (when my wife and I moved in together).   But I think Casey is even feeling the loss.

Sorry for your loss.

I too have a cat that is indeed part of our family.
All of us have gotten attached to our cat, so I can certainly sympathize with you.

No other cat will ever replace yours, but as another post said, keep a picture of her on yor desk and reflect on all the positive things about her.

My condolences
