Some people (including myself) cannot realise, or forget, we're dealing with microscopic companies nowadays.
How many people do Amiga Inc., Eyetech or Genesi employ? What are there assets, capital etc These small outfits depend totally on larger companies for the manufacturing, shipping, testing and packaging of their products. And since they're so small, they don't have a lot of control on these processes, more so when things go wrong.
It's not their fault, the sad truth is that the Amiga has shrunk to a diminutive niche market, that larger companies wouldn't bother getting into. However, the internet can alter our perception of such companies. For example, I would expect sterling service when shopping in a huge multi storey shop but be lineant if I entered a small, family run shop. However, on the internet, there's no indication of wether you're dealing with a sizeable company or a tiny outfit.
Subtle hints, like the Genesi top guy attacking every user like a rabid dog, or Amiga Inc's wankers talking endlessly about nothing, might shed light on the true nature of these companies.
This is not a complaint! I am prepared to put up with all of it, since I still use and support my Amigas. Yes, I'm sceptical, like a lot of other people here. But I still have faith in the Amiga community, and I feel we're closer then ever to our goal.
Genesi have delivered a disappointing, half baked product. But Eyetech has come up with the goods, and if Hyperion follow suite, I won't mind waiting for months or paying relativly high prices for my machine. At the end of the day, what counts is having a powerfull, brand new Amiga Computer on my desk!!
