@Staticman

It's an AOne-SE, is it not? Most of the people interested either
already have one or has ordered an AOne-XE. Wait a little until
systems are being used more widely before selling. Then you
might get a decent prize. You cannot expect a second-hand
market to emerge before the system is actually fully released...
Traditionally the Amiga second-hand value has been rather
good. Time will tell.

"new slogan "if you want to waste money - buy an amiga and try selling it again the next day" "

Staticman, it happens with anything you buy, not only Amiga. You can try it with a PC, if you don't believe me...

I have no money, and besides, think of it as a slap for being impatient after what? 10 years?

Absolutely.... In fact, the only thing I can think of that this doesn't happen with might be a house.  You can usually resell it quickly for about what you have in it.  Anything else is a very hefty loss.  And consumer/luxury goods (like a hobby computer) are the worst.

Hi,

Will you take a 200 MHZ Packard Bell, Amiga 500 and $50.00. Remember this is a second hand unit and beside that who really want to buy a dead computer. My gosh do you really expect big bucks for a computer that comes with a free down loadable OS, or no OS. Who suckered you into buying that thing. HMMMM I just might have to keep the Pack Bell at least it has an OS (Winblows 95).

I have no idea what your talking about, so here is a doggy with a small pancake on his head.

MorphOS is a MAC done a little better

Fair cop - you spent money and you were burnt.
But it's in the buying you were burnt - not because people won't buy it off you for the price you are asking (700 pounds).

In order to sell it you'll have to set a realistic price based on what the technology is worth today, not what you paid for it yesterday.

A quick look on Eyetechs site can give us some (hopefully current) figures:

AmigaOneG3-SE  G3 750CXe@600MHz    360.00 UKP -  580.00 Euro

Thats a far cry from 700 UKP!

Especially when:

AmigaOne-XE G4 7451@800MHz 500.00 UKP 800.00 Euro

So what value would I be getting for the additional 340 UKP I'd be paying?

It's a serious question - I am led to believe that the eyetech price won't include ram, case, or other accesories (although these are hardly expensive nowadays).

So what additional value do I get for my purchase? Because it looks like most of the offers here could be held as legitimate.

Siggy.

Dont touch 200Mhz Packard Bells, they have a tendancy to fry keyboards and mice.
Hate figure.

We have a feature list. For some it's enough. For some still would like to see it first. That makes the difference in this community :-)

@ staticman

your new slogan should read "if you want to waste money - buy ANYTHING electronic and try selling it again the next day"

If I were you I'd try to get some use out of it, you'll probably get a better second-hand price in six months' time.

As I sit here typing this on my AmigaOne*, I wonder why anyone would want to get rid of an AmigaOne so soon after buying it.
It's quite possible that Staticman has had a few issues with it and hasn't been looking for help in the right places.
If that's the case Staticman, let me know and I'll be happy to do what I can for you.  Trust me when I say you'll regret it later if you get rid of the AmigaOne now...

AKA Ben de Waal.

* (well, to be completely accurate, I sit here typing this on my Windows box running an X-Server connected to my AmigaOne and running Mozilla off it (purely for the fact that my Windows box has a wireless keyboard and I can lie back in bed and type and Mozilla was less clicks of the mouse to load than running IE locally))

Its a system. I think this is the poster called "Mike" in the classifieds ( hardware ).

If not a system Id be Mr Cynical and say that if you didn't want to sell something you owned but wanted to make a point price yourself out of the market ;-)

Seriously though others have good advice here, wait a few months and you'll get a buyer. In fact the key is to wait for the thing you don't want to wait for - AOS4 - that will make the kit very desirable.

Hate figure.

Technics SL1210 turntables don't lose value either.  Second hand they cost more or less the same as brand new, as they are so well made, they are virtually indistructable.  I sold my pair for £600 last year, you can buy them brand new for £645

Yep, that's true. I was recently offered £550 for mine. Not selling though.  :-P
