oh i forgot one last question with the BPPC and the 3d card can we run teh os 4 on the A1200?

Not for us regular mortals no. As i said in my previous post, it seems like OS4 for the a1200 is only avaliable for a few selected beta testers  :-( It does run fine on it, just not released yet for us regular peeps.
Hyperion say it will be released for the classic once the final version of OS4 is released.

Technically you can run OS4 on an BPCC+BVision but the problem is that only beta-testers can get their hands on OS4, it's not released yet. Nor does it look like it will be released anytime soon :(.

I sold my BlizPPC because I got tired waiting for a proper OS for it. I decided 68k only was more fun than waiting for the next gen Amiga(OS) to come round Real Soon Now =).

Bother? Questions are a great deal why there are things like a.org =).

You can use the internet on a miggy yes. Be aware that the browsers are prehistoric and without extra graphics hardware it will be dogslow in 256 colours max. on an A1200 or A4000. A high end 68k (040 or 060) would also be needed to make it remotely comfortable.

If by listening music you mean MP3s, well, that is possible with 68k but anything below a 060 and it hogs up the CPU. There is however extra addon hardware available (MASPlayer) which hooks to the parallel port and takes the decoding load off the CPU. There are ofcourse also a gazillion mod files available which doesnt take alot of CPU oomph to play.

And there are plenty of art packages available indeed.

About the "X1200", I did not hear about it, but of some others based on the first generation of AMD Athlon 500/600Mhz using QNX+Amithlon in late 1999.

Cynkronyze, yes you can edit the link. to post a link properly when in the reply/post screen there is a button located above the "SIZE" window that looks like a link in a chain, select that and paste the link you have in there and enter the one or two word text that you want to display like This

Have you ever tried to do it with an Amiga browser? It doesn't work here. Maybe you or someone else could post the html code for this.
A1200 PPC user.

is the blizzard 1260 and the blizzard ppc different?

1260 has 68060. 1260 has 1 SIMM slot, but adding SCSIKit gives you 2nd slot (and SCSI-II obviously). 1260 has no privision for graphics card (it's possible to add one, but you need PCI busboard or some other extra expansion).

BPPC has PowerPC cpu and m68k cpu. Various configurations exist, from slower 603 and 040 combinarions to 240MHz 603 and 50MHz 68060. BPPC can also have SCSI-II controller, but it can't be added later on (so if you need SCSI you must get model with it). All BPPC have two SIMM slots, and possibility to connect BVision graphics card, or GRex PCI-busboard.

The best card for A1200: Blizzard PPC 603 240MHz with 68060 50MHz and SCSI-2, with BVision graphics card (it plugs to the BPPC). You can have 2 x 128MB 72pin SIMMs to it, totalling 256MB memory.

I had this setup, but my Pegasos II G4@1GHz replaced it.

Frankly, even this fastest possible BPPC isn't that impressive these days.

The BPPC configuration you described is the best you can get for an A1200 currently.  You can only get them second hand since Phase 5 went out of business several years after Commodore went out of business.

There is another PPC accelerator for the A1200 in the works from ACK Software Controls that will run AmigaOS 4 called the PowerVixxen LT but it isn't in production yet.  For more information about it there is a log from an IRC chat with its designer here.
