Magnetic, please stop trying to harass A1 owners on every thread you come across.

I'm a 100% classic guy, and your even getting on my tits.

Well as you know even if it WAS within 12 months we all know that Eyetech doesnt honor the warranty.

So? You've used what happened to me as an excuse to bash Eyetech, when, as you WELL KNOW, it had hee-haw to do with them.

And I will add the bplan repairs peg boards free of charge well after warranty.... so bs that.

Good on them but what relevance has that, or Eyetech's warranty fulfillemnt, to my situation? None, whatsoever.
Do the words "fan boy" or "zealot" mean anything to you?

@cecilia

yeah, I have Update 4 installed.

its a bit problematic - I have to have the self-powered media-reader/hub unpowered when I boot into AOS - it gets recognised and starts the USB Mass storage commodity if I power the Hub once everything else is started and ready to roll.

a 3 finger salute if required can cause the hub to not be recognised, and I have to either unpower before the salute. I reckon it could be in need of the USB fix, which is why I bought the damn hub in the first place ! when it works, though, it works quite well - though I can get lockups if copying photos from the CF slot by multifile drag and drop - necessitating the need to reboot. not got it nailed yet, but I a) dont have much time, b) dont really have an urgent need - I can work around it.

My A1SE has been running for over 40 months now with no problems except the USB debounce thingy. It's in use every day, has only had 1 data error that could possibly be attributed to any Articia DMA bugs (and that was within the first couple of months when using Suse 7.3).

I've had far flakier x86 boards and the A1 at an original price of £550 or so has provided what I consider to be good value for money.

It amazes me how some people seem to have an unfortunate desire to denigrate someone else's good news or happiness.

@Wilse:
Good to hear it's up and running. Have fun.

Red

Just because there is no "commercial release" doesnt mean an OS project is DOA this goes for both os4 and MOS.

This is getting way OT, we should probably continue in a new thread if we want to take this much further. I'll just say this.

Both aimed for a true commercial release and fell short. Both did release a somewhat to fairly useful(beta/pre/insert term)product. Neither seem to have very much additional work being performed. Some people on both sides claim development is hot an heavy, but all inidicators would point seem to point to the opposite. Virtual tumbleweeds.. Schmidt is going imbedded (if anything) and OS4 is orphaned with a final beta prerelease to existing "beta board" owners only.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Its not bashing.. its called tired of A1 people posting falsehoods and correcting them. Thats not bashing its called telling the truth. Everyone hates Genesi and blames them for all kinds of problems but what about Amiga inc? They are the real culprits and they killed the Amiga not Genesi, not bbrv. And Eyetech, who I had lots of respect for not honoring warranties on 800 protoype motherboards is just PITA.

magnetic

So, you are tired of it? You are "just" a user. Try being an Amiga dealer over 10 years and live with Amiga situation, see how you feel. Many people have given their livelyhood to this and have been crushed by the lies and mismanagment of the Amiga brand and company..

I was there when Bill Mcewen announced OS4 and said "on schedule and rockin'" and STILL NO OS4 Release! It doesnt infuriate you that due to a poor contract between Ainc and Hyperion that they wont/cant release it?????

Not to mention all the mis/disinformation spread about MOS project and certain Amiga heroes like Ralph Schmidt and others...

This post is so full of self-righteous, irrelevent, paranoid bollox that it's difficult to know where to begin so I'll address your points one at a time:

Quote
Its not bashing..

Wrong. That's exactly what it is. You may not be able to see this, due to your own one-sided perspective, but it's bashing all the same.

Quote
its called tired of A1 people posting falsehoods

I'm the so-called "A1" person who started this thread.
Please, can you tell me where I've posted a falsehood?

Quote
and correcting them.

Or where you've corrected me?

Quote
Thats not bashing its called telling the truth.

It would be if that was what you had done but, unfortunately, what you did was nothing of the sort.

Quote
Everyone hates Genesi and blames them for all kinds of problems

Straw man alert!
Genesi were excellent to me. Cheap Peg1, followed by replacement when it turned out to be faulty.
No problem with them from my personal perspective.

So this is your excuse for using this thread to slag Eyetech?
Absolutely pathetic, mate, honestly....

but what about Amiga inc? They are the real culprits and they killed the Amiga not Genesi, not bbrv.

Awwww.... get over yourself, FFS!

Quote
And Eyetech, who I had lots of respect for not honoring warranties on 800 protoype motherboards is just PITA.

800?
I think you might telling a wee white lie here, no?

You need to lie down, Magnetic. You're bginning to sound like Samface's evil twin....

"Wilse" or Dave P or whatever your name is...

You can sit there and defend Eyetech and Ainc all you want. They did not responsibly handle the Amiga market. There is no disputing this, regardless of what warped facts you want to present.

As a matter of fact A1 boards were selling for MORE than $800 in the US.

And yes, I'm a Bplan fanboy. I'm a "fanboy" of any company that goes out of their way to help users and honor warranties well past they are over. (Who does that?) Then, on the other side of the coin you have Eyetech who didnt honor any warranty at all.. so not that tough of a choice apparently.

You can call me "samface" all you want. The truth is I know Bill McEwen (even made him an Amiga tie), Alan Redhouse (has beers with him and Petro) and a host of other Amiga luminaries. Actually, the best chance the "Amiga" had was with Jim Collas and Gateway screwed that up...

This whole fiasco with Hyperion/Ainc vs Mos/Genesi was sad and could have been avoided. I actually have a magazine press release calling the Peg1 the new Amiga 1. If Ainc had made MOS "OS4" things would have been a lot different. Instead, they went with Hyperion and slung mud at some of the top level Amiga gurus we have.. just look at the names on the MOS team.. impeccable. And look at Bplan - ex Phase 5. Real amiga lovers. And what have you all done? Turned your backs on them and called THEM traitors. What a #*@) joke.

This is my problem. This is why I post like this. Alot of users dont know the real facts, just versions of the  truth people like you spread. It sucks

With respect ladies and gentlemen, this topic has gone irretrievably off and is now being locked. Please take a moment to breathe and relax before going back and starting anything else.
