this ''damn'' scsi.device 37.64 version is rom's 3.0
1230scsi.device is 7.19 in my scsikit, after the update i use goes to v8.1. even when i boot with no startup-sequence the 1230scsi.device appears ok and without the need to connect anything on the controler, i don't have any kind of termination too. you can see some of the running devices and versions if you run the sysinfo.what workbench version you run?

tested in my four miggys with three blizards and different systems, just for sure :) before mailing to amigakit  wit "its faulty" u know

It seems to me like everyones attacking him. He didn`t criticise Amigakit, he made it clear that he`d followed all instructions regarding termination etc, yet he was asked over and over to check termination and cables.  I laughed out loud at the first page of this thread.
Now he`s "bad mouthing" for using a bit of bold type!
-insert clever profundity here-

You are right of course, I shouldn`t just pointlessly interject like that.  It just didn`t read like he`d really said anything wrong to me that`s all.

I felt like attacking people when I installed my Blizzard SCSI-IV kit too...

:-D

For a start it's a real 'bitch to fit in, particularly with a SIMM and finding the right way around for the SCSI-IV to ribbon connector.

My DCE SCSI-IV has the v8.5 ROM which I was told would be good for CD burning. The trouble I have is there's a large capacitor right where the 2nd SIMM slot is, effectively blocking me from installing another SIMM!

I suppose BlizKick will put a v8.5 SCSI-IV ROM into memory for you, there's got to be a reason for the 8.1 -> 8.5 update.

Where is your SCSI-IV utils? Mine came with SCSIconfig and UnitControl. These not only prep your SCSI hard disk (enabling Synch & Reselect) but also allow you to adjust transfer rates, scan the SCSI bus and stop drive motors.

One other problem I have had with my SCSI-IV is that the I get erroneous data transmissions even in Asynch mode. I think it was Castellan that told me the 'zebra connector' was known to make a bad contact now and then.

Pulling the connectors on and off can sometimes make a better connection (tarnished by heat/oxidising).

Also, remember with SCSI-2 that you must not have a chain longer than 3m and that no two IDC headers must be within 10cm of eachother on a ribbon. The less connectors the better (RF reflection) and active termination (such as a Honda ribbon or external LED block) are essential to absorb reflection.

Termination can be applied with jumpers on most internal drives. Term power also needs to be guaranteed.
