Blizz 1230 SCSI kit, how i can see thar damn 1230scsi.device?
« on: February 27, 2006, 05:31:29 PM »
I finally decided to order scsi kit from amigakit.
today its arrived (veryfast)

so ive installed one 16mb simm just for testing, atach scsi ribbon, plug whole sandwich together and intall it into my 1200.

and now :( now i can see/mount/whatever cdrom or zip drive?
cd and zip is 100% working (im using it with A2000+oktagon, so its properly daisychained and terminated.

on diskette from amigakit its only bunch of unusable tools or what? hdtoolsbox (tooltype askdevice) cant see 1230scsi.device too :(

what i can try now?

(added16meg sim is of course visible and usable (32+16=48meg fast)

You do see the extra 16MB memory? Sure you have the cable right way around? Terminated the bus properly?

I had trouble getting one to work too; got it fixed eventualy after hours of fiddling. Pin 1 is marked on the cable; but not on the card. The red wire is on the simm holder side, if it's not already there.
Try removing the SCSI board and clean the contacts on both the Blizzard and the SCSI card. This eventually worked for me, probably just a dirty contact (though the effect was very different; my Amiga wouldn't boot, just a black screen)

Some SCSI drives will not work with the Amiga properly you should try a different drive. You MUST have a SCSI active terminator on the SCSI cable as well.

You have to set the scsi device in the Tooltypes of HDToolbox if I recall correctly. Then it will use that device driver.

I am not laughing, I understand that setting up a SCSI drive can be a pain.

Do you have the Drive set to the right device # make sure it is not the same as any other SCSI device and not #7 as that is reserved for the controler.
Do you hear the drive spin up when you power it up?

Maybe your scsi kit is busted! Or try a rom update?

@Chain:

What does a "version 1230scsi.device" in a shell say?
