Saw it yesterday with the good lady, thought it was pretty enjoyable. Would have enjoyed it a lot more if I was like 5 years old again, but such is life :-D

@Uncharted

That avatar was from an afternoon out to Lyme Park when the snow fell thick and deep. I am still waiting for more ;-)

It almost was like something out of nania:

I didn't think Liam Neeson's distinctly Irish tone suited the voice of Aslan, but then what accent would a lion have(!)so I'll live with it. The battle scenes are reminiscent of LOTR in many ways. Excellent film.

It seemed to me like alot of stuff was missing from the animated movie I saw years ago...

...or did everything just seem bigger and longer when you we were kids?

Saw it when it first came out, and it was a good movie (certainly better than the last Harry Potter) but not "great".  It tried too hard to be a "spectacle" in it's own right rather than a great movie.

There were also a couple of really nitpicky, annoying things that I just couldn't seem to look past.

1) The little girl who -- no matter what was going on around her -- kept this ear-to-ear "I have no idea what's going on" grin.  I know that's a matter of a new, youthful actress and don't AT ALL intend to hold that against her, but it was distracting to see a film transition between the older brother and sister shouting "war!" to the little girl sitting there grinning like she just "ate the cat".

2) Perhaps it was the translations to the movie, perhaps it was the accents of the actors.  I knew nothing of the book, but had often heard of "Osland" (oz land, or how I would pronounce it).  Actors in the movie kept constantly referring to it as "ass land" which, for a kid's movie, bothered me greatly.

Could that be a matter of accents?
I know the way I say some words amused my American friends at university no end...

Are you referring to Aslan the lion? If so then "ass lan" is the correct pronunciation.

Even "aslan" would have been acceptable, but in the movie, several people put notable pause between as and lan, making it come out as "ass lan".
