go to workbench:devs/dosdrivers, could be that there are 2 cd rom drivers in there and one is using scsi.device unit 0.
if so delete the icon that has scsi.device in tool types of the icon.
Amiga is addictive coz it is fun to use

What is more immoral: being expected to (gasp!) pay for your software/hardware, or being expected to develop it and have it copied on the net for nothing?

My view - there is nothing immoral about expecting people to pay for software and hardware you have worked long and hard to create, and probably invested in financially yourself.

I understand your point of view, that it seems a little wrong that hardware/software vendors charge so much because they know Amiga users are emotionally attached to the platform and thus will be prepared to pay their high prices. Almost like they are trying to take advantage. (not my opinion by the way, but some people's)

But unfortunately we are now a niche market, which means prices will be high. Those who have made the decision to stay with the Amiga have to accept the high price of equipment.

The high prices have nothing to do with emotional connections. The reason for the high price is that if somebody rises his hand and whispers "I've got an Amiga for sale", thousands of people will offer him a lot of money for it. If nobody wants an Amiga, prices will go down.

New A1200s are sold for about 100 Euro. This is much cheaper than when they were built.

So why do you bother ? If you are not emotionally connected to the Amiga, why don't you dish it and use a cheap modern PC instead ? Nobody forces you to use an Amiga.

Note: by "you" I do not necessarily mean you personally but anyone. Especially those considering to commit piracy. If they want something, it is worth buying it. If they don't think it's worth buying, they don't need it.

Bye,
Thomas

You know what I think?  At this point in the game, if you are an Amiga fan you need to get off your high horse and buy a copy of Amiga OS 3.9 if you want to use it!  It is pretty pathetic that some people are so cheap or stuborn that they will not support the Amigas latest effort to still stay alive.  Let it be said right now, it is NOT a cutting edge modern OS so if that is what you want, get Windows XP or Max OS X and shut up.  And I don't want to hear about how behind it is, or how this or that!  The bottom line is that something was done and the OS was updated!  Look at the Atari ST, nothing was done like what Amiga did.  Yes I have pirated ADFs and DMS files over the years, but I spent the lousy $45 for a legit copy of Amiga OS 3.9!  Plenty of places still sell them so there is no excuse!

ok. guys. I`m gonna buy myself a copy of Amiga Forever. I think that package comes with a legitimate Kickstart version and the OS.

Just don`t jump to conclusions. I`ve bought my pc software. I just wanted to try it out before commiting myself to this purchase.

@kefallinos

"I live in greece and i have no way to get any amiga stuff here"

I reckon that a 16 year old cannot afford to order Amiga stuff from abroad but there are no 16 year old Amigans left - as a matter of fact most of them are in their late twenties to thirties... and most have jobs...
As for the cost of living in Greece, I will agree. But I cannot see where the moral issue that you mention lies... it's just supply and demand.
Btw drop by #amigahellas on GrNet or visit www.amigahellas.gr if you want to chat with fellow greek amigans.
