Hack n' Slash
« on: November 20, 2005, 08:36:10 PM »
Anyone got his hands on Hack N' Slash,
a MUD-style MMORPG(or whatever) i think, for
a database or something.
My brother was an pcOp at a DB, at a
Amiga based DB where they had that game.
like ten years ago.
haven't seen it since, and neiter has he.

I don't remember how that worked so
I just wrote what i rememberd,
since I'm just 17, it isn't much to remember :P

thanks for any help!

Oh, the memories of logging into a board to play!
I even got it running (sorta) in an /X environment (/X = Amiexpress, an Amiga BBS software package)

Anyways, the 2nd posters email refers to a BBS Door, for which you will need a fully functional BBS installed to play. Wish it was easy ;-)

What do you mean by "sorta got it running"? ;P

Is it hard to get a BBS working?
I'm kind of newb at that so, I don't know.

I managed to find this thread via Google as I had an A1200 a few years ago. Last year I did something rather cool:

I had my WinPC running a serial->telnet piece of software. I then ran WinUAE on the PC, and MAXs BBS on UAE, and then H&S on MAX's. I was then able to let people log in to H&S on my website by putting a Java telnet client on there, which telnetted into my machine!

I did all that JUST for H&S! I loved it from when I used to log onto BBS's (Amiga Junction 9 in the UK was my favourite, they had regged H&S)! :) Only problem was that it was really really really slow, being emulated etc. And then my HD died so I lost it all! :(

But what I want to do is try and recode H&S for linux (perl or php) so it can be a native app for my website - and also this could run on the amiga too with a suitable interpreter :) I guess I need the source-code for H&S tho, which I'm sure is impossible to get hold of.

If anyone knows where to get it though (with authors permission of course), then please let me know! I'm at www.klubbing.com.

Thanks!

Will

Hey guys,

I have posted recently about my bbs http://telnet://montereybbs.ath.cx but it is a linux bbs, current daydream version.  Unfortunately it doesn't run amiga games but I have been toying with getting the linux version working as a bbs door.  I love the game as well and play it daily in my system/x UAE setup here locally :)

You find a potion. You quaff it without hesitation. It contained estrogen.
