Linch,

Thanks.  "Lead, follow, or get out of the way" sums up life but it helps illustrate part of my frustration. You can't lead if all you do is kvetch about things that no longer matter in the real world.

True.

But, why do you then?

Dont get me wrong, I think you and the staff here at a.o do a great job in this jungle that is Amiga, and computers in general. Do people see Amiga as real life, or simply something "that was" and "could be"?

I know amiga.org is one of the very few site(s) i visit about, maybe 25 times per day to check on things .. infact i'd say its one of the only site's i bother with nowadays.

To sorta sum it up, and site with the word Amiga in / on it is great in my book's. It's what makes a community, more than 1 person / object / whatever.

As long as there is a light at the end of the tunnel, the people here will hold on. Sure a few will fall before the end of the ride, but most people here "know the score" about how long website's take to make etc. Wayne, you of all people know what effort is needed to run a site, etc and that there is no way anyone can please everyone.

Time to do some more waiting i guess. If you dont want to wait, there is always http://www.microsoft.com which i guess gets updated daily :-D

WinUAE Only... OS3.9 with 512mb ZIII ram ;)

You won't have any choice in the matter soon, unless you want to never update your windows again.

@cecilia

Well, said. Put's it nicely into perspective.

@Wayne

Perhaps the same old story is because, realistically, it may be all we have left.

Yes, OS4 and MOS are here, OCS/ECS/AGA still work.. But after al these years, I really can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Still, I can't imagine Hyperion are only doing OS4 just for the fun of it. Erm, what fun anyway ?

Don't infer that you even an inkling of a clue about the state of my finances.  As I have said many times before in various forums, that's my business not yours. :-x

As for the website, it will take some time.  It seems Amiga Inc. can't please everyone.  Half will whine because things are being done, the other half will whine because of the appearance that nothing is being done.

Whether you like it or not, what was posted on Amiga Inc ("New site coming soon") is a certainty.  It will take as long as it takes for that work to be done.  Not years, not months.  But certainly more than "17 days."

It might be roaringly funny for people to say "when its done," and ROTFL like it was the funniest thing since Monty Python's The Life of Brian but that's about all I'm going to say right now.  Yes, we have timelines and yes, we know what they are.  However, those will not be revealed.  Why?  Because if there is some reason for a delay, whether it be programming related or otherwise, someone will find a reason to moan about it.

So, for those with their chuckle bags on, the site is "coming soon" and soon will be "when it's done."

Ciao,
Ray A. Akey / AKA HMetal

@HMetal,

Haven't seen you posting in some time.

It seems Amiga Inc. can't please everyone.

Personally, I think Amiga Inc. shouldn't have said anything about the site being updated, well, not by a news item anyway.

IIRC correctly, you and Gary said the you (Amiga) are busy building a new site. No time frame was given.

But like you said, If Amiga speaks people complain or joke. If  Amiga remains silence, people complain and begin rumoring..

Hm... I don't suppose I can persuade you give us a behind the scene looksee ?  :-D

Literally speaking, that gives you seven weeks max from the day you posted the announcement, as eight weeks is two months and you said "not months". :-P

j/k  Good luck to hit yeour proper deadline. :-D

Why not just work on the new site in the background while leaving the current site up? Then when the new site is ready put it online. Surprise us. Sort of like the t-shirts. Yeah, it was announce that they would be sent, but I don't think anyone really expected them to. Then , Boom! people started getting t-shirts, without some grand announcement that they were actually shipping.
