there is no "Amiga Inc".

(where have you  been???   )

KMOS, a company that has Private investors bought certain things from Amiga Inc.

they don't need to get other people's money. which is why they don't have to make alot of noise online or have a web site.

and who really cares about fleecy et al?
I don't.

I am curious -- is that official ?
I am wondering cause I see nothing on the website (its pretty out of date (ie: AMIGA.COM))  and can't really find anything in the news either.

Also, what is the deal with KMOS ?
Anyone know anything about them ?

The ceo gave an interview with amigaworld.net, and a speech at Amiwest. Basically he said "Wait and see, judge us by our actions", and at Amiwest that the teeshirts were printed and ready to ship.

That's it (and no, no shirts every shipped). There is nothing else. The company has no website, no address, no phone number and no email address. In the past there was a contact email address given of "info@kmos.com", but apparently people who tried to contact it got a bounce message from Amiga Inc mail server.

What does that mean? No idea. I just am not holding my breath. Doesn't sound like an aggresive company with any real vision or plan to me.
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

It is official that KMOS pretty much bought out everything from Amiga Inc.  As to anything beyond that, there's a dark shadow covering everything in mystery.  It was revealed that the same crew is still employed, but it's like a complete blackout really.  I know it's difficult, but it might be a good thing.

Years ago, Amiga Inc said they wouldn't release any information until stuff is already done, then they got mired down by the idiots and skeptics in the community (myself included) who wanted to pedantically argue every single point, leaving Amiga Inc on the defensive.  Then the tech bubble burst, and when already weakened we had to suffer the personal vendetta of Bill Buck going after McEwen by lawyering AI into the ground.

My hope now is that McEwen et al have taken their own advice and shut up while they're working.  Unfortunately that has left the community to feed upon itself, led in chorus by moronic sychophants who hope to gain by slandering others to divide the dwindling community for their own entertainment (or use).

Sad really, but not enough to give up hope yet.  If Amiga Inc ain't dead, they ain't dead and as long as Eyetech and Hyperion are around, who really cares?  (Come to think of it, one could argue that while bPlan and the MorphOS team are around, who really cares about Genesi?)

I just wish Amiga Inc would put the smack down on the new breed of "people" out there who're actually working to harm their trademarks and pirate stuff. Honestly, considering the derisiveness of the remaining few in the community, almost anyone who goes out of their way to support the Amiga has my deep respect.

Is that presented as a fact, or are you just bending the posting guidelines?

Without wishing to appear sycophantic, for this reason you have MY utmost respect Wayne.

If I could be so bold to say so, I should think I am not alone in this.

IMHO, Amiga.org represents an even handed view of the Amiga community today. For this reason, it will always have my support, even if and when I stop using the Amiga as a viable platform.

Adam

In no way does what I had to say violate the posting guidelines.

I did not directly insult anyone, and it is my opinion (based on personal face-to-face conversations) that Bill Buck has (or at least had) a personal vendetta against McEwen and used his company, lawyers, and money to supress AI.  Buck also stated publicly that the only reason for the lawsuit was "to shut them up", so there's not much debatable there.

Of course, one could guess that the only reason for your comment is that you wanted to twist my words into yet another useless red versus blue {bleep} debate.  Guess what?  While I have the utmost respect for the people involved, from Ben to Ralph to the Friedens et al, I don't support either Genesi, nor Amiga Inc, so in this instance, I am without a "color".  I just wish they (collectively) would stop the madness and DO something.

it's well known that Buck had a "vendetta" against McEwen.

there's no point in being coy about it. the "war" is over, anyway.

Let's ignore these idiots and concentrate on playing with our amigas. the micro is out, the state of OS4 improves everyday. things are good.

And I say this because I've seen the micro with my own eyes.

AmigaOS is developed by Hyperion, HW is supplied by Eyetech. Where in the hell AI is needed? They were interested in DE technology only and it flopped long long ago. Bad luck, and life sucks, but everyone can't win.

I'm pretty sure AI got more money from AmigaOS/AmigaOne/AmigaForever/XL/Amithlon stuff than from AmigaDE/Anywhere.

While parts of your message were indeed informative, and to the point, some remarks weren't really necessary and were provocative. I don't know what differences you've had with the companies involved, and I certainly know it's hard to retain one's objectiveness on the matters.

I am no exception, I couldn't help biting, either. :-)
