Hi Cyberus,
I have tried both the Triumph version of MAME on the 060/AGA and the PPC/Blizzardvision setup. Firstly, the Amiga MAME is not at all optimised to take full advantage of the Amiga hardware, as it is a PC program. It also requires a fair bit of memory (32-64meg) and processing power to get the most out of it.
On the 060 setup i mainly ran games that used Z80 or before. Games such as: Bomb Jack, Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Yie Ar Kung Fu, etc. These games ran pretty well (FS1 with no sound or FS2/3 with sound for Bombjack or Yie Ar Kung Fu, etc). But i would bother try games that use the 68000 (Klax) on an 060, as these crawl on this (around 50% speed).
On the PPC, the Triumph version of MAME did not run to well on my setup, it was either pretty slower than normal or it had no sound. But the games that did run worked a little faster than the 060, not much better than i expected.
The Amidog version of MAME is pretty decent. But my advice is get the GUI. This ran very well on my PPC setup and you can get crystal clear sound. It runs games (Z80 or under) very well with sound. But games that use 68000 runs a slow (with sound), but playable.
My advice is get the Amidog MAME with GUI over the Triumph version. Once you have everything setup and running it runs pretty great. BTW, you should give a few of Amidogs emulators a try, as they run pretty decent. But remember, get the GUI! :-)
Regards,
