Maybe you have mode promotion turned on?
If yes: Try turning it off and see what happens!

Although I don't know much about OS3.9 (still very satisfied with 3.1 :-)), maybe there's some argument you could pass to SetPatch in case it tries to do some FBlit-like hack (IE use the CPU instead of the blitter, store Images in fast-ram etc.)

Also check that you have the newest picture datatypes installed!
Amiga: Too weird to live, too rare to die.

Just a thought...   check to see that the simms on your Warp Engine are seated correctly,  it might be that one of them was disturbed when installing the graphics card.  (The last time I changed upgraded the memory on my Cyberstorm MKII, in my A3000 which has a Cybervision 3d, I had the same symptoms that you describe.  Reseating the Cyberstorms memory solved the problem.  Hope this helps.

for any case you might try to install CGX/Picasso over WB3.1.

I think I have the same problem with my Amiga4000. I have asked here often, but no answers.
It seems that my computer hang whenever I try to run the CBvision-driver (I moved it out of drivers/monitors just to see if this was the trouble).
Ive also tried with anotoher card, RetinaBLTZ3 with the same result. So i'm fearing my 4000 got some seroius hw-problems.
And dont tell me to format and junk around with p96, cause Iv'e tried that. Installed a dozzen of times, and it has worked. I had my miggy cabbed for a rather long time, I'm guessing some static cat went by and flashed my dear miggy.
It works whenever I dont run any graphicscard in it.

But, an advice could be just to move the CBVison3d-driver out of drivers/monitors, reboot and see if it hangs then (on aga, that is) and then launch the driver by hand. Not that it helped me, but...

I have Buster 11 on this machine, but i couldnt find that jumper on the card to force it to run on ZII mode. The installer tough, cames with an option that asks you which zorro you have. Have tried both with no luck at all...

Mmm...im not sure the problem could be faulty ram...if i take out the card...the machine works perfect...so i dont thing i have power supply issues, since the machine is fully working when i dont use the graphics card.
Somebody told me that CERTAIN DCE Cybervision 3d had problems with some Amiga 4000. I have no other Amiga user here to test this, but...could anybody confirm this? My Amiga besides the warp engine , has nothing else, no hacks on wb startup, i installed on a clean 3.9 partition. Also tried on 3.1 workbench and the same happens over and over again... :-?

Was the card purchased new or used?  I've had mine for a few years, but remember that there was a problem for me running the version of CGX that came on the included disks.  I had to download the newer version from phase5 (cant do that now) but cannot remember what specifically it was doing to make me have to update.

[edit] Looks like from that previous post that it is a new card so it's unlikely to be the same as the problem I had.

You can download the latest versions on the CGX updates from a website called VGR(I think that's it) I used it before to upgrade from CGX4.0 to 4.something.

Well..the card is second hand...the previous owner had it working on his 4000 ate least he tells me that. I tried first the drivers that come on the packaging, later i donwloaded from VGR site all picasso & cgx versions..with no luck. I also tried 8 and 24 bits and always the same...so..its the card bad..or my machine is in some way incompatible with the card?

I have a CV64/3D in my stock A4000ec030 (yeah it's slow...); it works fine here. I'd try changing to different screen modes. It seems wierd that your monitor is causing this. All I can suggest is a different PSU... I'm serious; flakey PSUs can cause all sorts of wierd intermittent problems. On one PC I repaird recently the PSU was responsible for the machine freezing every time the floppy was accessed...

Cheers,
