STAY AWAY FROM AMIBAY. Its run by a bunch of old fanboys that have a fascist outlook on your privacy and what you can and cant do with your hardware or software you sell or buy there.

Do you mean they can check your PM and watch all the messages there? That would indeed be a privacy breach.

Not only Can they check your PM they DO read them. Not only this, but they will internet stalk you if they can as well. I started getting back into classic stuff and bough a nice a1200 ntsc unit. I needed an accelerator so turned to amibay. I bought a matrix 030 w/32mb and liked it but I didnt know it only could have 32mb max. So like 2 weeks later I find a nice Apollo card and sell the Matrix I got on Amibay to a friend, who then sold it on ebay. The mods at amibay did an "investigation" which basically was reading PMs, internet stalking me, and amazing privacy invasion. When I spoke up about it very vocally to the mods they LIFE BANNED ME.  Thats right LIFE.  First offence no warning nothing. I think it was more because I called them out on privacy invasion and creating false accusations.

The arrogance and private club mentality combined with fascist moderation and control, with "Big Brother" overtones is enough to make anyone crazy. Sure, you will hear guys here so "amibay is wonderful and fun and its about community" yeah sure. Their idea of "community" is more like "communism" Everything is rosy until you do anything the masters dont agree with then you will see. (like for instance pricing your hardware for sale what YOU think its worth - they want you to post it for the price THEY think you should) you see? Just like good ole times with Chairman Mao.

Another thing I forgot to mention why Ebay is WAAAY better than Amibay is that you have a lot of protections in the transaction. There is virtually zero on amibay.

Speedgeek

You can be "sick" of amibay bashing all you want. But generally in the amiga community any time there are multiple complaints you can bet they have weight.

1. There was no "link" to any amibay anything they internet stalked my friend and myself in their "investigation" and admitted it in the pms (which i cannot access) I wish i could post them here for the truth to be told.

2. I wasnt "scalping" how stupid. I explained in my post here if you read it, that it didnt suit my needs and resold it to a friend who in turn sold it on ebay. ( I dont sell on ebay) How many of you guys have done this before? But because I didnt sell it BACK on amibay like the Masters demand I get banned. First offence, long time amigan, they dont give a **** life ban.  If you arent in their little club you have no chance. And they dont like being called out on their shady behavior of internet stalking and pm reading. Typical geeks, give them a little tiny bit of power they go crazy. How sad

I will continue to expose the behavoir of those who run this "amiga" site that is totally agains the amiga spirit.

Oh and I forgot to mention that I was Life Banned from EAB (First infraction never had one problem) for telling my story about amibay on a thread that was OT. This goes to show you the "power" these guys have. Good ole Chairman Mao would be proud! Banned from 2 sites for reselling an 1200 cpu that I upgraded to a better one.. wow what a bad guy. what a joke..

They should change the name from "Amibay" to "AMI HOARDERS" all the hoarders can sell their nice rare amiga parts to eachother to hoard, never use in a productive way, just hoard so they can say they have x, y, z amiga stuff. LAME

magnetic has the right to appeal, but never did..

Thats a complete falsehood. Of course I did. They could care less. Life Ban with no possiblity of coming back for first offense (that wasnt even an offense) Boy, I'd have a lot more respect for them if they just said "we didnt like what he did, first offence or not, amigan forever or not, life ban who cares"

(well Fitzsteve who is a big Amibay guy did say that your banned get over it or some other insensitive statement.)

You see, they mentality of Amibay "officials" is that its their ball they make the rules and if you dont like it get your own ball. (You know like the jerk kid when you were little that had the ball - same thing)

The best part is being banned from EAB for telling the true story. This was after some hacker(s) took down Amibay site (probably for getting banned) and I said something like Karma is a bitch, then I got life banned from EAB. (Some of the mods are the same.) Ive been told by other amigans that EAB and Amibay is all UK guys AND THEY ARENT FOND OF AMERICANS.  My story is true And I will KEEP TELLING IT so real amiga people know the TRUTH. I am too old and been in the amiga world as a dealer, user, and supporter for too long to take abuse from a bunch of self important geeks. Unlike them, I have a real life in the real world, and dont need to make up stories or lies to justify my actions. Go online and read about amibay and all the banning i'm not alone here on this.

AND YES ITS A KNOWN FACT THEY READ PRIVATE MESSAGES AND TAKE LIBERTIES INVADING YOUR PRIVACY ONLINE.

Like I said earlier, the sit seems all lovey dovey amiga friends, UNTIL you do something "THEY" consider a violation then your new Amiga pals turn into the Spanish Inquisition.  I had a few succseful transactions before the A1200 acell (those parts I kept and didnt "scalp" or "resell" or whatever nonsene they claim) So i was a fan of Amibay until this happened. Kind of like a girl you date and are in love with for a month, until they show her true colors and turns out to be a pyscho.

Butthurt spite?

Comments like this show the maturity level of this guy. No wonder he loved Franko so much.

Iggy thanks man I have no reason to lie. Commodorejohn doesnt like me so he will take any chance he get to make me look bad. I've told this story time and time again. You notice how NOBODY from EAB or Amibay will every post to "debate" me about it. Because they are in the wrong. And apparently are resorting to warping the story and lying about facts. Believe me when I say the guys who run Amibay are against the Amiga spirit. (Net freedom, net privacy, etc etc) They are more the spirit of the Pentagon than Amiga.  All it is is a bunch of HOarders trading amiga gear with eacother.

Go on amibay and read threads and see how many people have been banned (Their nick has a line through it saying banned) many many many. Even guys who contribute alot. The "Masters' dont care. If you arent in their Cabal forget it.

AVOID AMIBAY AVOID AMIBAY
