Most of my musical heroes are nutters anyway. ;-)

James Brown is fine, I suppose, if you like that kind of music, but he's not my idea of what I would call funk.

Now.... If you're asking me about George Clinton and the Parliament Funkadelic (or P. Funk All-stars), then THERE is some funk.

I'm a great fan of George and Funkadelic too.

My idea of 'funk' is no doubt broader than yours.
E.g. I think of certain Curtis Mayfield tracks as funky.
Then there's Fred Wesley and Joe Quarterman.
Although these guys wouldn't be under the heading 'Funk', down at the record shop, some of their stuff is most definitely 'funky'. :-)

Prince can be very funky too.

I was yesterday at "Swingin' Groningen" A (free) musical event in Groningen city.
Seen bands like: The Randy Brecker-Bill Evans Soul Bop, Polar Bear and Amp Fiddler.

Now THAT was FUNKY! :afro:

I saw The Godfather in Paris in 1998. Boy, it was dead cool but a bit too short... :-(

Anyway, there WAS funk before Clinton.

things like Dave Pike, Prof Mc Griff, the VERY first Kool&theGang...

Moreover, James has done HUNDRED of tunes, some are 100% guaranteed to shake yer bonbon!!!

/me kicks out some James and get lowdown and funky with cecilia :-P

And if you wanna listen to one of the GROOOOOOVIEST albums EVER, buy Herbie Hancock's Flood.

I didn't see much more of Swingin Groningen than Karin Bloemen. That was pretty boring, luckily the cafe was cosier (sp?) :-).
