A500 display problem

Hi,
I have an Amiga 500 with a SCART-cable with soundconnectors included. When I use this cable, my tv gives a white screen and no sound. When I use the composite video and audio plugs to SCART it works fine, but then the video is in black and white but the sound is working. The manual said that the composite from an Amiga 500 is always black and white so there is no problem with the Amiga.

How can I use the cable (23 pins I believe) to SCART in full-color?

I'm not an authority on A500s (I have one myself though), but I'd be inclined to suspect a dodgy modulator (the thing that sticks out the back of the A500 that you connect the TV to).

He's not using a modultator, just straight RGB -> SCART.

No real idea, but a couple of debugging steps.  

Are you sure the SCART connector on the TV works?  (ie. Does other SCART stuff work?)  
Have you tried the cable on another Amiga?  or another TV?

When using a SCART cable, you don't need a modulator.

A modulator is used to get composite in color. But the picture is not as sharp as with SCART.

White picture probably means the Amiga is waiting for an external sync signal (as from a genlock). If this is the case it means the SCART cable is not wired correctly.

Hi,

I know the SCART connection is working. I tried many devices that uses one.
I did not try to connect my Amiga to another tv. So, I will try that this weekend.

The cable should be wired correctly, because it is an original cable.
