Problems with Workbench 2.1 reading PC disks
« on: June 27, 2004, 09:35:07 PM »
How do you find "show all" in Work Bench 2.1? Also I have formatted a disk on the Amiga, as a PC0: disk (full format, and named it) and when I put Twin Express on it from the PC (by dragging the file into it in my computer)All I can see is the icon for the trashcan, and nothing else. Also does the disk I'm using have to be a 720kb disk? The reason I ask is that the PC won't read the disk It says it need to be formatted?

first, you should always format on the PC, because windows is stupid

once windows has made it readable to itself, amiga should have no trouble seeing it. (assuming you have the right files. i use fat95 cause it reads long file names and is uber-cool!) and is on aminet. :-D
the no CARB diet- no Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld or Bush.

If you're using a 1.44M floppy you'll probably need to cover the hole on the left side of the disk, opposite of the write protect tab to trick Windows into thinking it's a DD floppy.

As for show all, it's in the menus at the top Window / Show / All Files (from memory, the actual text might be a bit different.  Make sure you have the disk Window selected when you do it).
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Thanks for the help people. So with the disk problem, would the disk have to be formatted as a 720kb disk or 1.44mb in the format screen on Windows 98?

Yeah,  make sure you select the 720kb option, IIRC you can select the density of the media you wish to format.

You should at least be up and running....

HELP! I've managed to get the amiga to read the Twin Express disk but, now I can't seem to install the program into the amiga. Can someone give me a hand, as I'm stuck (again!)
