NOS Amiga OS3.5 (retail box, collectible)- $20
« on: June 25, 2004, 01:19:50 PM »
We have just acquired a stock of NOS (New Old Stock) Amiga OS3.5. OS3.5 comes shrink wrapped in a full retail box, unlike OS3.9 which comes as a CD only. Besides being an obvious inexpensive upgrade for OS3.1 users, these retail boxes are surely to be collectible one day. OS3.5 was the product of the Gateway era of Amiga Int. (now Amiga Inc). The included booklet even has a message from good old Petro.

If you would like to reserve a copy for $20 + shipping, PM me here on Amiga.org or email me at jim[AT]anachronismindustries[DOT]com. I expect them in stock before July 2. Once in stock they will be added to our eShop at a slightly higher price, to cover eBay fees.

For more information about OS3.5 look HERE.

What? $20? Isnt it a bit expensive? I mean I could get it for 9,90 Euro from a local dealer.

9.90Eur is ~$12 USD. US dealers who stock it has it for about $40, so I don't think $20 is unreasonable. Buyers can go anywhere they are more comfortable. Be my guest and buy it from your local dealer, that's not a bad price.

-Edit-
I'd be curious to know if at that price it is the original retail box version of OS3.5, or CD only(CDR) that was produced later.

There were unboxed CDR versions of OS3.5?  First I've heard of this.  Were there any other differences between the original and the unboxed versions?

Was OS3.9 ever released in "Second Edition" format with BB1 included?  I know there was talk of this at one point.

There is an OS3.9 second edition CD, however without BB1 or BB2 updates on it.

So what was the difference between OS3.9 and OS3.9SE?

There are some hints as to what was updated in the OS3.9 FAQ, such as the information on this page.

The second edition fixed a few install problems that put the wrong
libs on the system and has some newer versions of a few other files is
all. Doing the BB1 and BB2 did even more for you though. So if you had
the older version it didnt matter. The new one was pink.

Edit: Oh and red is right about his price. The only other dealer in
the US I know that has the box set in stock is Software Hut and they
sell it for $39.95 before shipping is added which is another $5 on
top. so if you were looking for it his price is best here in the US.

20 bucks is a good deal considering sofhut wants 40 bucks plus shipping. And if ya need an extra set of wb disks might as well have 3.5.

Please keep in mind OS3.5 comes on CD only, though we've taken care of your problem. Your package is shipped out, you should get it tomorrow:-) I'll email you the tracking number as soon as CE gets back.

Just a quick note, the shipment of OS3.5 arrived today. Everyone who prepaid will receive them in a few days, as I will process them for shipping tonight and they will ship out tomorrow. I will email everyone who wanted to be put on a notify list when they arrive, in about an hour or so. There are still quite a few left, if anyone else is interested at this time let me know.
