Psycho eBayer, hate it!
« on: June 24, 2004, 05:39:01 PM »
 :pissed:
Grrr. You ever deal with an eBayer who is a total lunatic? I get them now an then, and I am dealing with a real loon atm :pissed:

It's amazing, nearly a complete 100% of all Amiga related sales have gone smotthly yet probably 20% of all other auctions have one issue or another, and about ~5% are pretty loony. This one I am dealing with for the last 2 days takes the cake though. :furious:
Someone has to state the obvious and that someone is me!

Well, I'd prefer that than losing 340 EUR as it seems to be my case :-(

The guy went to vacation and said he told his brother to ship my item, he didn't tell me and I almost got crazy sending tons of emails to him. After 2 weeks he replies and tells me he was out of town for vacation and that his brother shipped the item and that it was returned??!?!? Then he says, ok, I will have it shipped tomorrow.. and nothing happens and he does not reply emails however he's a very active user on ebay. :-(

good luck with the ebayer red,

regards,

D.

Yes I have dealt with a few idiots.  One left negative feedback after 2 days of end of auction because I did not contact him!!!  I have 5 negs out of 459 because of a holes.  And as you pointed out, all of em are from Non Amiga transactions!  And the majority of my ebay dealings is with Commodore and Atari stuff.  Go figure.

Think that's weird?

2 months ago I bought memory from this woman and she sent the wrong
chips, so I sent them back.

I couldn't e-mail her because her inbox was full and then when it
wasn't I had to use a web-based anti-spam system to verify I was a
genuine e-mailer... and of course it didn't work.

Then she goes NARU, I don't get my item back and it all goes quiet.

I then see a very similar auction layout from another eBayer so decide
to buy from this other person out of curiosity and lo-and-behold...
who is it?

The same person!

When I approach the person I am told it's the younger brother and the
elder sister has moved house.

I am then also told not to waste his time and the item has been
relisted and he will no longer e-mail me or waste any more time.

...

Is this THE scenario from hell or what? Someone pass me the keys for
the bulldozer...

You ebayers have way too much faith in humanity.

My faith is fading fast.
I've been burned on 2 HD floppies in the last month.
The first drive was NOT even an Amiga drive so I tried
again. This one was an Amiga HD drive BUT the listing
said "Untested" and "AS IS". What this means to me is
the seller tested it and found it didn't work so he
covered his Butt by saying Untested and as is.
Plausability Deniability, what crap. Its just passing
off junk that doesn't work. And I have NO legal complaint.

Let the buyer beware

@elendil

No not really. I prefer to deal in only Amiga/Commodore items, but that is very difficult since the market is so small. I can't remember the last time I had bad experience with an Amigan. Outside Amigans, yeah eBay has some pitfalls. But still, it's a great market normally, if care is taken. I would NEVER buy something from someone with no feedback, or bad excessive feedback.

I hate hearing these stories. People shilling crap to Amigans hurts my business, because it scares off people from eBay altogether.

Oh yeah, any time you see "AS-IS not tested" you can be assured it is definately bad.

I agree. As-is = broken. A while ago I was looking for a good deal on a digital camera and I stayed away from any as-is's because I didn't want to spend money on anything that didn't work.

It's AMAZING on how much crap gets bid up even when listed AS-IS!  Even Amiga stuff!  Whats the deal with broken or AS-IS Amiga gear selling for almost as much as "listed as  good" gear? There is a 4000 right now listed as broken and the price is creeping up slowly. I guess they want the case or something.  lol

eBay feedback system is a joke.  I got my only negative from a person that ripped me off!!!  The fact that some buyers/sellers hold their feedback as a recourse for legitimate bad feedback.

In my case, I paid for the item with PayPal on the day the auction closed.  After a month and a half the seller still hadn't shipped my items and was holding my money ransome demanding additional shipping money (more than the previously agreed on cost and what was listed as the flat rate in the auction).  I asked for my money back several times with no response from the seller.  After giving up hope I filed a claim with Paypal, SafeHarbor and gave her a negative.  Of course, I instantly got negative feedback in return.  :pissed:
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

I think most of the EBayers are reputable, the problem
is the few that peddle crap give all a black eye.

I've found that you don't just look at the Feedback
score, I also look at the items that they have sold.
This last guy that burned me had a good feedback score.
I was supprised to get burned. He said the front bezzel
cover was the only known problem, OK, I can deal with
that. Then when I plug the drive in and its DOA, I got
pissed. Over $125.00 invested in 2 drives and I still
don't have a HD floppy.

Also, PayPal doesn't except complaints on items
after 30 days.
If an unscrupulous seller can jerk you around long
enough, PayPal won't except your complaint.
